Cosmetics, mostly a women's perspective

My wife plays with me and her biggest problem is in game items often are not pretty. It's also rare that cosmetics are as well. Normally leaning towards trashy. My wife would love to see all manner of famale atire. Summer dresses, Camisoles, Ballroom dresses, Elegant evening wear, right down to the dresses from the 1800's that require corsets. Even the side bits like scarfs, hats etc.

I personally would love to see outfits for things like lumberjacking, cooking, gardening clothes for herbalism. What cosmetices would you like to see?

This link should show you enough of the current cosmetics that I think you'll be satisfied: https://ashesofcreation.wiki/Skins

Scroll right down and you can see the costumes and accessories they've designed already. Gives a good idea of how they want the game to look.

Yeah, some 'Worker Clothes' would be cool. Tavern worker, Maid, Smith, etc.

This thread has brought to my attention that I have a mighty need for a cool huge scarf.

    onkvhstwmb9q.png

It doesn't need to be as long, obviously. Also bonus if it 'fades into the ether toward the ends'.

I will give you all of the monies, Intrepid.
Sorry, my native language is Erlang.

You can have it, as long you trip over it while you're running and fighting, and end up stunned for a few seconds each time.

Elves don't trip, they glide or somersault, so I'll take it.

    Sure, they're for the wife.

The girl watched the last of the creatures die and murmured a soft 'Thank you' to her rescuer.

The stranger's eyes lifted to the blood red cloud on the horizon.

'We have to move. It's not safe here.'

Ya i feel with most games that same male and female, its really just male outfits to make it easier on development + a bit generic.

BDO you could feel more of a differences between male and female looks (though i also feel it shouldn't be just skin showing).

Is there any kind of reference you might like to see for style?

So the biggest issue with these outfits are that they are not really medival fantasy. :[

That said, I've seen some gorgeous robes and dresses from the early packs that indicate that IS will have more elegant and graceful outfits. At the very least, I've seen enough to feel confident in that they know how to make them. ... I have a sneaking suspicion that empyrean elves will have some racial outfits that your wife will like, so stay tuned for more concept art from the empyreans! c:

Then they are doing a great job, since they have stated multiple times over the years that it is "high fantasy"

Literally the first line on the wiki. "Ashes of Creation is an upcoming MMORPG set in a world of high fantasy where player’s choices will shape and define the world around them.[3]"

Ah. Pardon, I guess the language barrier is showing. :'] I am well aware of that AoC is a high fantasy game (I guess I lost the wording. English is not my first language, after all). And I was definitely not complaining - quite the opposite! I am generally in love with AoCs designs!

I just meant (in case my comment was unclear) that the outfits op listed felt quite modern, at least in my head, compared to what we have been showed so far. :x I do not recall seeing anything that looked as modern as summer dresses nor evening dresses. I can't even recall seeing any corsetts nor trench coats. I do however recall seeing what I would classify as fantasy ball gowns and some extremely elegant empyrean robes.

Many games I have not played simply because the devs choose to make the female attire pornography. I would really like to be able to play a game where my choice of clothes for my character is pretty, but not porn. I get along very well in real life without the destructive nature of porn, and I'm not going to play a game that turns women into pleasure items either. This is one reason why I am so excited about Ashes. I have seen a lot of pretty cosmetics that are not pornographic, no sexualized poses for advertising, and realistic armor for the female.

Chapó, better said impossible. I also want a game where women's clothing does not sexualize, and even less pornography. This is a serious and immersive game, not a model catwalk.

My hope is the cosmetics for women have women in mind. Men for the most pat like things that look cool, scary. There is a never ending suppiy of that kind of thing. Women for the most part seem to be second place when it comes to the things they like. I would love to buy tone of skins that my wife can change her look as widely as she does in RL.

I think it's ultimately about striking a healthy balance. I'm a guy and I like dressing my characters up in cool armour and smart looking tunics. From what I've seen of the gear already previewed, I like the direction the development team are going in.

With that said, I hope this game doesn't follow Final Fantasy XIV's footsteps by sacrificing the established aesthetics in favour of randomly throwing in modern day style clothing.
