The Optics/Look of our Summons as a Summoner(Necromancer)

AszkalonAszkalon Member, Alpha Two
As someone who wants to play a Summoner and also a Necromancer - i want to mention right away that i hope and wish for a certain Option to have ingame.

And it's about the Optics and Look that Summons may can or can not have.

While i love that the "Summons"(?) of the Minotaur Enemies in the February Presentation looked like a "teal, ghostly Version" of themselves,
meaning the Summoner most likely summoned a Ghost-kind of Version of these Beings instead of the actual Animals, when a Summoner hustled a tiny Swarm of Birds onto Sir Steven,

I hope that i as a Necromancer will have at least the Option, of letting my Skellie-like, Zombie-like, Lich-like or whatever Undead Summons, look physical. Like simply the actual, material thing - and not like kinda turquoise things that will take almost all of the Atmosphere around my undead Minions away.

Like : this turquoise-like, teal Color should be reserved entirely for Spirits. Or : that it is at least an Option, like an optical Glyph-kinda Modification like in World of WoW-Token Craft, that i can decide for myself if my Summons have that teal, ghostly Look, or if they are the physical thing that i hope we will be able to have in the Game - as all of Us who want to play a Necromancer.

May the great King Atrax watch over our Wish - and hopefully grant us our Desire. 👋🙂

I agree! As someone who actually loves that color choice, I agree that it suits better for spirits.

I am instantly thinking "shaman" when I see them, but in general I really think AoC should give summoners that little extra to be able to run the fantasy they like... as in - loads and loads of skins obtainable through side quests and/or Summoner specific quest lines!

I mean, for the falconer alone there is tons of class fantasies. A dark, hooded character with a raven or a crow. A more mongolian type of ranger with a hawk or falcon. A northern ranger with an owl (as yours truly!)... There are tons of different birds that fill completely different fantasies - and I *really* hope Intrepid will let us customize that as we want.

And the Summoner in itself is even more complex. The necromancer can be either zombies, skeletons or ghosts depending on who you ask. A beast master should be able to do anything from a pack of panthers to bears and rabbits. Traditional summoners should be able to summon elemental types (I love BDO's concept of elemental summonings) or more monsterous summons ala Final Fantasy style. Either hordes of them, or single bigger ones. Permanent companions, or timed summons.

I am so excited to see how Intrepid decides to deal with the Summoner archetype even though I do not intend on playing one myself. It is an amazing class fantasy that loads of players are dying to see done right (some of my mates included - I have no less than 3 players that lean towards maining summoner!)!

Please, Intrepid, remember that customization is key especially when dealing with the Summoner class!!!

usually a lot of what people suggest is already planned, there will be a lot of summon customization, the ones we saw are just NPC skills

Actually Yes. From Shaman to Broodwarden to Warlock to Bladecaller - i can actually not even imagine how they would even closely being able to "look" as such, even for those whose first/primary Archetype is not Summoner.

How would a Bladecaller look without "flying(?) Blades" ?
    A Warlock without something - well - Warlock-looking like ?

I know a Shaman is primarily a Cleric, but i am curious about that one, too.

This looks like nature spirit summoning. Something like a Shaman would do.

Though, pet skin options would make for an interesting option.
