So playing new world, you could Hold W to keep running forward and then hold Alt at the same time to pan the camera around while staying on a straight path (if you move the camera you would follow it without holding down alt)

What this does it allows me to increase my situational awareness by checking my flanks without loosing forward momentum as I run towards my target, normally I would do this in games by strafing to keep my character on path but to look around, issue with this is usually strafing slows you down. the Alt camera pan fixed this for me.

anyone else know some minor features like this that can drastically improve gameplay?

    Rust has the same "alt" head swivel while running. I think WOW just does it with right click while running.

    But yeah in this type of game we probably want to have head swivel, especially while mining/chopping trees.

    /follow (possibly only for guaranteed friendlies aka group and guild members) for convenience

    Given that travel time is going to be a real thing, the ability to AFK and /follow a group member (or caravan?) during travel would be very welcome to me.

    While you may have the best intention to simplify your gameplay or to increase your "situational awareness" I doubt that Intrepid is going to give commands that can be easily macro'ed to afk play. /Follow is the gold standard for botting trains in many mmos. Not having it does not mean you don't have bots, but it does increase the barrier of entry for less sophisticated players to created automated gathering loops.

    /follow would be really awesome. I really miss that from newer MMOs. Its so much easier to get in the right direction with groups, and at the same time keep track of people who goes AFK.

    Its also a bit sad to limit the games convenience and overall coolness of features, because it might get exploided. Then they have to figure out a way for it to work withless exploitation.

    is /follow really that bad, You would think if someones scripting these bots they could make them follow without having to use in game /follow commands

    I do like the /follow command in some games, FFXI it helped with longer trips. I think though this is where multiple people on a mount would come into play (is aoc doing multi seat mounts)?

    the thing with follow commands is that it removes alot of the work on the person trying to bot, without it every person botting needs to come up with their own solution / use someone elses limiting the amount of people / sources. it would remove alot of the botters and slow down the dedicated ones alot.

    AOC probably isnt the game you would want to be afk following in anyway, it would just lead to the person being stranded whereeve they have follow break and standing there as puppy chow or you would die cos the attacker wouldnt care about corruption.
