MMO launches. How to make it less chaotic.

It happens every damn time a MMO launches. We have a guild establishes, but some dude has to get his kid to a virthday and karate class or whatever, and he cant start when the servers come up - several people normally. Hey, we are old gamers, we got shit to do. The problem is, that when they come on a day later, the server is closed for registration. They have to wait for several days to start and lose interest. Or we find a new server, and the same shit happens again, because not everyone can make the char at the same time.

Is there a method to make some kind of guild registration before hand, so the server have some sort of hard cap - for people that are just joining, and that hard cap is soft, for people who are registred for in the guild who joined the server before hand. So like if guilds register to a server, and say how many they are - then those people have to register somewhere Intrepid wants you tom, then you get get in. It would really improve the quality of life for MMO launches, which are ALWAYS shitty this way.

What do you guys think?

i agree thats a problem and it sucks, but wouldn't it be the same if they had something to do on the pre registration day? unless that day was actually several days. i mean, at some point they will have to close pre registration, to prevent 43957437545 ppl registering on the same server...

They've already thought of that: https://ashesofcreation.wiki/Guilds#Server_reservations
Server reservations allow guild members as well as unaffiliated players to reserve character slots on a server starting in the Beta testing stages of the game.

"This would likely be utilized more so by guilds than that would be solo or unaffiliated players; and I believe that the solo player they may have friends that they want to play with. That's fine, they can also still with those friends do the reservation system, but the player who is just joining the game fresh and doesn't have a community that they're part of, I don't think they really mind in that regard and will not utilize that system." – Steven Sharif

Yes, they're already ahead of the game, using guild reservations and most likely people will know also where the big streamers are headed so if they so choose they can avoid those servers.

This alone, will drastically improve the queue times, if you choose to opt for a server that clearly tells you it's very full, than that's on you :)

And with the addition of being able to create your character before launch, makes it a even smoother transition. I was always one to grab the first random person I saw and slap a name on it, just to get in the game. Now I will be able to really customize it they way I want.

I don't expect this launch to be without issues, as usually something will pop up, but Steven has been through enough MMO Launches' to know many of the pitfalls and trying their best to avoid them.
