Brainstorming biomes/weather, traps and abilities.

Hi, glorious community!

Brainstorm up a biome/weather pattern, a trap you'd like to see in game, and an ability that you'd also enjoy seeing in Verra!

  • A biome in the far reaches of a wintry tundra where it blizzards with thundersnow as lightning occasionally crashes down. On clear nights, a dazzling display of the aurora spans across the star-riddled skies in vibrant colors.
  • Traps within dungeons such as poisonous darts, blinding traps, magical glyphs which explode upon contact. Hidden rooms and cleverly placed levers waiting to be discovered in these dungeons.
  • An ability and/or spell which ferries the player to another player's location, kind of like Aetherial Manipulation in FFXIV for BLMs.

Share some of your creative ideas!

Ive always been a fan of pit fall traps in games every since Everquest 1, these were typically just fake floors that will drop you down to lower/more difficult area's of the dungeons so falling for them wasnt instant death or what not but it definetly increased the challenge level cauing groups to take things a whole lor more carfully especialy since the route to exit the zone is no longer cleared of mobs :P

One way doors/tunnles were also pretty amusing traps since your normal escape gets cut off groups need to find a new exit and since there no maps in everquest it made thing a heck of a lot more interesting :P These were usualy one way doors that would lock behind when they close and they couldnt be opened without a key or a rogues lockpicking skill.

Hidden rooms/shortcuts are nice discoveries too

Some hazards in ice zones could be blizzard and they leave icicles around in area and if fighting takes place to close they may break loose and drop down aoeing below them

I remember Steven Sharif mentioning something about goblins that can kidnap players.

I think that's a really cool idea and I'm eager to see how it'll be implemented in the game.

Love to see the player kicking and screaming as dragged away!!

I want to see an awesome, amazing, "huge" Sandstorm haunt the Desert Area next to the Riverlands.

Maybe a snowy, HUGE and intimidating Blizzard in the two snowy Biomes, making Streets/Roads impassable for a time. Or at least a few of them, limiting the Number of Routes that " Caravans " can take. ;)

As Ashes will be able to of different Weathers and Seasons - i can't see why some more or less rare, huge Weather-Events shouldn't also be possible at the Time of Release or after it.

I would like to see them utilize the changing of the seasons, maybe have rivers and creeks with different levels that change depending on snow melt and rain and use those systems to block off or open up areas and shortcuts around the map

Flash flooding? Rock slides? Maybe a rockslide that turns into a world boss? Weather based events that trigger world bosses or events could be pretty cool.

That would be so sick to see! Goblins with enough intelligence to pick up a player and throw them in AOE would be awesome.

Oooo yes! I think that with the seasonal changes, there's so much potential for stuff like this to occur. Imagine a part of a dungeon map that becomes flooded during the spring and summer months, but remains frozen during the fall/winter months and is inaccessible for a time. :O!

Seeing an enormous rock elemental boss form & emerge out of a rockslide would be so cool!

Love this concept! Being able to connect to the terrain in some sort of way to navigate throughout a game just feels so rewarding. Imagine rivers filled with corruption that cannot be navigated, but in the winter when they're frozen over they possibly could be!
