Rare Monster Idea

BloodyOrangeBloodyOrange Member, Alpha Two
Hi guys i am just a regular gamer who like to share a idea. No problem if you do not like it i just want to hear your opinion about it.

Today i rewatched the video about the roaming world boss and somehow it reminded me about the legendary pokemons Raikou and Entei from pokemon crystal. In pokemon you can always find the different monsters at the same locations and nearly all of them don`t "move" to another map. But Raikou and Entei can appear in every location because they are roaming around the map. But its very rare that you actually find them. When i was playing that game as a child i still remember how excited i was when i found one of these the first time. I had the same feeling when i found my first shiny pokemon or the treasure goblin in diablo 4 - after seeing him 30 min later again my excitment was not the same ofc.

What i want to say is that those kind of super rare random encounters can add mystery and excitment to a game so why not try it in a mmorpg ?

For Ashes of Creation i was thinking about a Creature that can spawn anywhere in the open world at any time. But ofc its super rare that it happens - maybe once a day or even a week. The creature could carry a Egg and is very determined to keep it so it will do anything to get away from you or fight you. If you manage to kill it you ll get the egg as reward. After a while it could transform into a special mount or smth like that.

I know its not a game changer but for me those little things can add a little bit of spice to a game. Let me know what you think !

I like it. Such a boss would be difficult for sweaty guilds to camp. Plus, imo, finding rare encounters like this is always a pleasant surprise.

This sounds like the boss mechanics in - Shangri la frontier - anime. Where there were 4 ultra rare bosses, that 99% of the players havent even encountered. And those who encountered them are all dead :D.
In the end they had to unite the strongest players from the whole server to kill the weakest of those bosses

    Rare Monster Idea

This is actually a very welcome and nice Idea.
This can be extended to quite a few things in Ashes, as the Game holds tremendous Potential.

    -> Mounts/World-Bosses/Mobs,
that appear for Example only in the " Winter " of either every Biome that can have a "Winter"(snowy and so on), or maybe only in certain Biomes at all.

Ashes already confirmed/stated that some things for Example will only be available during certain Times in the Game. They will return always apparently -> but only at these certain times.

And why not something like Paperchase/Puzzle-pieces /Questchain/Event-related things as well ?

A rare Mob, Boss-Mob, Mount-Opportunity - > roaming the Maps/Worldmap of Verra in some or all Locations, shouldn't even be the most rare or unique thing of them all. But why not add it anyway ? ;) . :sunglasses:

Great that you mention "Paperchase/Puzzle-pieces /Questchain/Event-related things" - i was thinking about this as well and the special kind of spawn in different biomes / seasons is a good idea as well !

Maybe there can be some kind of hints in some quests or even main story wich tells the player that there is some kind of mysterious creature that lives in the winter biome.
For example: From time to time wanderers would claim that they have seen some kind of frost bird with iceshards instead of feathers.
-> These iceshards can be found around the winter biome if you are very lucky. After you collected one you could start a quests wich lets you track down more iceshards. The wanderers could give you hints where they expect or have seen such shards. Together with your guild or in a group you can search for them. If you managed to collect lets say 10 shards you have sucessfully tracked down the beast. Now its time to kill it!

They should hide the infinity stones around verra and the wielder should be able to snap away half the servers

I like the idea. Looting a legendary from a mob that respawns randomly in any location is pure luck and it will be impossible to farm it in loop. Such boss could look flying mounts egges for example.

I love concepts like this! It's so fun being able to program different types of outcomes based on chance and it REALLY adds to the sensation of inheriting luck.

From raid bosses, to rare spawns in the world, rare nodes, random crafting outcomes, rare mounts or rare colorations from husbandry, there is just SO much potential.

Its like opening up a present each time and gives me the yummy brain chemicals when I open something up and I'm gifted with a rare outcome. Its like gambling for free :D

I think its a good idea to have "global rare creatures" like that.

An example to how this could be governed in Ashes:
A flock... herd... a group of special Pegasus, that roams around based on the state of different regions. All locations they could be found in should only be accessible through a climbing/jump-and-run passage and they flee after a few minutes into a combat encounter.

-They can spawn in the north-western mountains of the Riverlands unless the vulcano further south is active. --They can spawn in the north-eastern mountains of the Frostgrave Fells unless the Vulcano in the north east is active.
-They can spawn on Sujoma or on the island in the Tradewind Sea (not peligora) if both of these above mentioned vulcanos are active.

    > These winged horses could sport very unique fur/wings (like the flashy version of the Cloudburst Pegasus
The players options would be to either kill them for very rare materials or to tame them to turn into a gliding mount, with a very rare chance to gain a temporary true flying mount.

I love the idea of incorporating rare, roaming creatures into Ashes of Creation! It reminds me of those exciting moments in games, where stumbling upon something rare creates a memorable experience. The concept of a creature carrying an egg that can potentially turn into a special mount is a fantastic idea. It adds an element of surprise and uniqueness, making the world feel more dynamic and alive.

In an MMORPG like Ashes of Creation, where the world and its events are constantly evolving, having such rare encounters can enhance player engagement and exploration. It would be thrilling to have these rare creatures roaming the vast open world, creating moments of excitement and wonder when discovered. Additionally, the rarity and unpredictability of these encounters can foster a sense of community as players share sightings and experiences.

Overall, adding these kinds of rare and unpredictable elements can enrich the game experience, providing players with unique stories and treasures to discover. It's a great idea that could add depth and a sense of wonder to the game's world!

  • Yes, we like that and there's very similar suggestions about this, there isn't a big thread specifically about this yet tough

Yup this is exactly what i am thinking ... well said :D
I think many gamers who have played video games for years get a feeling how a game works. If everything is predictable it can get boring after a while. Thats why i like stuff that rarely happen and i don`t expect. This way i can feast on those "yummy brain chemicals".

i love it because you told a great story with this idea. I think it would fit very well for ashes of creation ... expecially since we have farms.

Thanks <3 Yeah would be great to see smth like that in games more often. Who knows maybe we ll find the fruit in our favourite game one day ;)
