Ashes Apocalypse Rewards / Cosmetics

balisobaliso Member, Alpha One, Alpha Two, Early Alpha Two
Anyone else wondering if the ashes apocalypse cosmetics are making a comeback at any time or are they going to be exclusive to that play window . ( their wasn’t a lot of people relatively speaking who played it - let alone capped the prog path trees for rewards ) would be cool if they remained exclusive. Thoughts ?

I hope they stay exclusive. I'm one of those that wasn't going to touch it and I think it gives those few who were playing it a mark of distinction for their effort.

I agree . I’m a more traditional mmo player . Cosmetics to me hold no value when purchased with real currency . The only cosmetics that wow me are those that are earned and / or exclusive . It can look like a rusty wooden sword for all I care as long as it took something epic to achieve .

The idea of bringing back the Ashes of Creation Apocalypse cosmetics is intriguing. It would indeed be fascinating if these cosmetics were made tradable, creating a market for collectible items and allowing players to exchange or sell them. This could foster a dynamic economy centered around rare and exclusive cosmetics, appealing to collectors and new players alike.

However, it's important to note that, according to previous statements from Intrepid Studios, these cosmetics are tied to the account that originally earned them. This means they are not currently planned to be re-released or made available through other means. This exclusivity is likely to maintain the value and prestige associated with these cosmetics, given their limited availability during the Apocalypse play window.

What are your thoughts on whether these cosmetics should remain exclusive or be made available again, possibly through a new event or as tradable items?

They really should bring them back, the BR was a mess at peak times. Every time I tried to play the teams option was down, and people were teaming up in FFA. you would keep seeing people move as small 2~3 person groups in FFA trying their hardest not to damage each other and stand should to shoulder and you get teamed up on.

it bombed on steam for a reason sitting at mostly negative reviews

I agree team br was a mess , but honestly I didn’t see teaming up in FFA that much and i played a fair amount . Bringing them back just makes those rare rewards worthless . Exclusive cosmetics needs to mean something. Working for a cosmetic needs to mean something . Other games ruined cosmetics ( thinking Warcraft ) by bringing things back on occasion . Even when we look at cosmetics such as mounts that had a rare drop rate from an end boss then being able to be farmed at a lower drop rate in the next expansion . That ruins the value of those cosmetics . It’s no longer got its wow-factor in the communities eye.

Fxxx. Both good Arguments here ... ...

I personally know nothing really about Ashes of Creation Apocalypse. I know i missed something by not taking part, no matter how incomplete Engine and Gameplay might have been at times.

is it just me though or is the Time-gated Stuff piling up and up and up ? ;)

    Also,
can we see the Alpha Two a tiny little bit as another Ashes of Creation Apocalypse ? Because i heard Apocalypse was intended as a Stress-Test - wasn't it ?

Guess what will get tested again in Alpha Two ... ... ;)

You didn’t miss much in apocalypse . It felt like more of a networking stress test than anything and possibly lead to them to decide they needed to develop the new server technology . ( this is when a lot of their networking changed ) so it’s not really needed to “ test again “ . I would say there’s a lot of “ time gated cosmetics “ from purchases and kickstarter backings sure . But I would also argue that these are likely the only
“ time gated cosmetics “ that actually involved someone playing and earning them.

I’m wondering how many people actually completed the full apocalypse reward path . Would be cool if intrepid would release those statistics as well .

This was brought up at the time. None of the APOC rewards were promised to be "exclusive." If Intrepid at some further point in development either decided to revive the BR in some form, or made those cosmetics available in the mmorpg or on the store, they have no "promise of never again" that they would be breaking. Will they? Probably not for several years at least, they have quite a backlog of other things they have sold or promised to develop first, and the last time they went off on a tangent (APOC) it was not well received.

As to how many played it, people forget there were two iterations of APOC. They released the first one, and there was a campaign to review bomb it. They closed that one down shortly after, (which wiped the negative reviews) and then released it again. There were in the beginning tons of people playing it, and many completed the whole battlepass, paid (was free to most who had packages) and unpaid. Problem was, after they stopped giving away the goodies, people left and stopped playing, and the only people left were those with multiple free bot accounts that were farming "wins" for a future promised leaderboard that never happened.

I know that they had said no promises of them being exclusive then ; however , it’s been years since so I’m hoping we can get an update on this . Also at least in apocalypse it gave us something we could play / some insight into the world graphics etc . I just liked connecting with fellow future ashes players . I enjoyed playing it as a combat test it just didn’t go “ very deep “ in terms of content variety or really anything else.
