Playstyle: Lots of room for casuals and more "serious" players, our focus first and foremost will be on building an organic, self-sufficient trade sector, fed by itself and our players out progressing the world. This will necessitate a strong ability to project power to protect our caravans and traders. So we hope to offer somewhere for anyone, from artisans just looking for a shield, to soldiers of fortune making names for themselves.

Our Role in The Ashes World

Blackrock Guard is primarily a mercenary guild, with a secondary focus on artisanship. We offer a wide range of services, specializing in caravan and personnel escorts, and temporary sellsword engagements, while maintaining our independence by avoiding permanent military alliances.

Alliances and Collaborations:

Business Partnerships: We are open to alliances with artisan guilds to mutually benefit from each other’s strengths.
Military Neutrality: We strictly avoid permanent military alliances to preserve our autonomy.

My Qualifications

Many guilds will form at launch, but not all will endure. A guild requires strong leadership and experience to thrive. I am a long-time MMO player and GM, having run a 350+ member guild in WoW (Blackrock US, Follow The Forgotten). We boasted the most active max-level player base on the server for much of WoD. Additionally, I ran a successful raiding progression guild in Shadowlands and a guild back in SWG, giving me extensive GM experience.

Managing these guilds taught me many valuable lessons, which I will bring to AoC and Blackrock Guard. One key lesson has led me to rethink traditional guild leadership, detailed in the next section.

The structure of two councils within Blackrock Guard is essential for our operations. As our forces often move and take on contracts worldwide, this can lead to our members being spread out. The Order of the Shield shares the command responsibilities, while the Council of Equals handles diplomatic ventures and governance. Both councils are crucial for maintaining stability and effectiveness, ensuring that Blackrock Guard operates at its full potential.

No, though that's a fun idea, our founding members are from the Blackrock realm. We will be open to all races.
