Alpha 2 keys

Did you think Intrepid made the right move to sell A2 keys to the masses? Not for the sake of honoring the backers, but I feel like they drawn in alot of people who seemingly have no clue as to what an Alpha really is about.

I get a strong feeling most people don't realize this game will be far from polished or finished. The goal is to try to break the game, encounter bugs. Who knows crazy server issues, like imagine some of the worst things possible to a game. You will need to go through this. Its not like you just do quests and wait for new content to appear and log off... in the end that's fine. Doesn't hurt anyone, but a waste of a potential gain.

Imo they drawn in a huge amount of people who are looking for copium and dont seem to realize what an alpha is.

Looking forward to hear your thoughts.

Even with the fact people don't understand what an alpha is about?

I won't be surprised people will want refunds if it's not to their taste.

It brings cash and testers and even if 90% of testers are not involved in reporting and just want to try the game in its alpha condition, they are still kind of passive testers.

    So I think it's useful.

And if they ask for refund, well it will be a test for refund process.

I think the more testers, the more positive results. I get your concern, but I think the majority of the testers know that this is work in progress and not a finished product.
Feedback and testers is what the game need, active or passive :)

It was a great idea and I'll tell you why.

-the price was a filter against bad actors and people less serious about the game

-it provided funding so we can stay away from private investors.

-there probably isn't enough true alpha testers in the way you describe to test network/server stability, but they needed a filter, so selling keys was a good option.

-Intrepid will get feedback from everyone regardless, in the form of raw data.

-the pricetag also brings in people hyped about the game who will act as more than free marketing, they pay intrepid to market the game for them lol.
