Dwarfs can flip. Class determines movement not race.

VoxtriumVoxtrium Member, Alpha Two
Just because you're a human doesn't mean you can run 50 miles, just because your a dwarf doesn't mean you mine rock n stone, just because your an elf doesn't mean you love trees.

Animations should not depend on the race but on the class.

For example, a rogue/X or ranger/X dwarf would likely be capable of flips.

Contrarily a tank ought to be unable to do a flip.

I imagine the tank like a body builder, and a rogue like a gymnast, can some gymnast lift a lot of weight? sure, and some body builders can do a flip, but generally speaking if you apply a theme to each a tank cannot flip and a rogue can.

I have no idea if this would be a significant change back end, since I don't know how you guys rigged the model animations, if the animations are not race restricted then technically speaking you would still be separating the total animations into 8 categories like you were before with the 8 primary races. (Tulnar excluded)

Additionally this might actually provide another avenue of visual progression, a tank/rogue or rogue/tank (Shadow guardian or Night shield) might flip but a tank itself could not.

Just an idea, thoughts?

Oh no. Not the fated front flip. No warriors in history flipped forwards or backwards. Still don't understand the fascination. Though I do love the movement options in DCUO but I am a superhero fanatic. 🚬

Well they oughta do it at least in one game! Though this would be the second one, cause there was some other one, whose video was posted in the other flip thread.

When I was 12, my hero in my books did twirling blade storms. The fights were mobile, descriptive and very brutal. Got informed that realism is key when the lore is fantasy and complex. The reason is to make the world feel real and that twirls, flips and long jumps were better for break dancing.

I think the flip animation COULD look really good, right now it makes no sense because it logically it leaves the person flipping completely open to attack with a VERY flat landing at the end, I believe the animation will eventually include a lot more natural movement that will improve its look drastically.

For example having the initial leap be off 1 foot allowing the body to twist so the flip is more of a 270 instead of 360, additionally having the landing be a lot softer and making the model have a small step landing as well would make it look just fine. That being said, I stick by the flip being a class related animation instead of race.

The best approach in my opinion would be a series of "cosmetic traits" that you can choose on character creation.
Just like you are able to choose for how you look, you should be able to have custom animations, example:
    - flip, front flip, back flip, you can choose to have it or not
    - another idle animation that for some might look "out of place" for that race

It would be a good compromise and doesn't alter anything on how the game plays, it's just a choice. Some dunirs will flip, others won't, and everyone is happy.

All of the casters should get a levitate ability that allows them to levitate at least 50m above the ground, while allowing them to choose the height they levitate. Anyone in plate shouldn't be allowed to levitate either

As long as the implementation of it required the same overall work it currently takes them to implement the various animations I'd be all for it.

Mages once had levitation but it was too overpowered in pvp and was removed.

So instead of making some special animations for the races that dont really have any mechanical advantage, you want them to make special animations for every class causing them to make the same animations for each race and gender? Because you dont like dwarfs doing a flip?

Dude. The best emote is the finger to the mouth (shush motion) emote. DayZ is an absolute blast due to the proximity chat. Everyone expects verbal communication but all one does is the shush emote and one gets classified as a psychopath after every pvp engagement. Though you can tie up and even cannibalise people in DayZ.

Can't it be both? Some animations are determined on the players race and some determined on the players main class?

I honestly like animations that are due to a character's race as this gives playing them a unique feel.

Correct if you play a Dunir Ranger there are a number of specific mobility and attack skills that "flip" the character. I'm sure the rogue will have its class specific mobility skills too.

The issue with the Dunir jump flip is that its the basic jump animation that makes little to no sense for a preconceived race and feels like nails on a chalk board to a significant portion of players.

I am liking this idea really. Yes, classes should have these asthetics.

Yes, I'd imagine a Sherman is way more of a dps tank than a proper only-correct-type of tank which is the defensive tank. So I'm sure there's someone dumb enough to have a dps tank as well :)

I'm just happy filps (and other similar things) will be included in the game.

I don't have an issue if its race, class or whatever that determines what animation there is a chance to be performed on jump but i really want there to be a counter somewhere for consecutives triggers made. Even leaderboards with 0 rewards :)

Edit: Really liked playing a Night Elf in wow just for that although i was Horde

Hoping this gets implemented in a future expansion. When they implement combo trees.

In addition to "toss" I'd like to see "footstool" and "belly bounce".

Mmos should have race locked classes.
Dark Elf Paladins and Elven Warlocks... flippy Dwarves and halfling warriors with greatswords.
    All seem out of place.

I want an Option where we can "shave" the Dwarf - (skinning would be a bit to much) - and sell the attained Beard like a Wig.

We could use it to shame a knocked out/killed ( :D ) Dwarf. And then frame some Elves by secretely smuggling the taken Beards into their Belongings. Inciting one Hell of a Race-War between Dwarves and Elves because of a Grudge. >:)

Joking obviously. After all, on Death everyone turns into a tiny, smoldering Pile of Ash. but imagine You could take "Race/racial Trinkets/Trophies" from slain Enemies.

The most macabre Players would put these Trophies everywhere into their Homes and/or on their Freeholds.

Some Savagery and Barbarism is always good Sport for PvP. >:)

Around a handful of Months ago or so - > in Worst of Warcraft in the Tunnel (Alliance) of the Battleground Alterac Valley short before the Start of the Battleground and the Gate going up to let the Participants storm into the BG,

i saw a Dwarf that looked COOL. AS. HELL. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He has blonde Hair curled like Vikinger into Dreadlocks,
plus very paramilitary-looking Armor that looked like reinforced Leather and kinda dark like Tol'Barad Armors from Cataclysm,

plus a freakin METAL. AS. FXXX. looking Crossbow on his back. ( Yes, he was the Hunter Class ).

He had the cool Wildhammer-Tattoo's, (Blue)
and looked overall so goddamn cool i just can not forget about him. Sadly i missed the Opportunity to make a Screenshot, just because i was so much in Awe.

    That Style was just badass.
