Weapon skin variance

Remembering one of my biggest let downs in New World, I figured I would post a suggestion for ashes of creation to ensure they don't follow suit.

Pleaseeeee ensure weapons have various skins that show progression. I remember New World's legendary crafted staffs looked like sticks I could've found in the woods which were the same damn thing I had since lvl 1.

Make crafted gear look like what the components require, make dungeon drops look like they come from that dungeon, make rare wold drops have some sort of story or lore component behind how they look, and make rare spawn drops similar.

It is very early still so there isn't much like this. But there does seem to be pretty good variance so far. But I do like the idea of making the weapons actually appear as what was used to create them.

Yeah I totally understand the game is still in development. This isn't something I would fully expect in alpha 2. Just something I'm hoping ashes of creation has implemented upon full release.

Personally I vastly prefer using weapon aesthetics that aren't blazing eyesores. Highly unique models would be great, but if having a legendary weapons means I have to glow 24/7 with no way to mask it, I'm just not going to ever equip it.

I reeeally don't want to see Ashes go the way of WoW where everything has to be big and bright and obnoxious, but I'm hopeful I can tailor aesthetics via the crafting and transmog systems.

While I agree I don't want everything to be gaudy as this wouldn't seem to fit the art direction ashes is going for, I would say that some people do like that approach to where I think ashes could have their own artistic take on it. We already know we can transmog in this game so if people don't want flashy weapons, they can skin it to look like however they want.

I'm more asking for the variety of skins to be vast and for them to keep in mind visible power scaling.

If I had my way, weapons would have designs based on the schematic they come from - ren'kai, empyrean, or tulnar, for instance - and it's the materials and craftsmanship that determine the weapon's quality. The result would be that all 'kaelar greatswords' look alike, but have different material makeups and coloration that change the feel, thus you can seek out rare design schematics or swords with unique visuals and have it look good. That'd allow them to make the weapon design list broad rather than tall.

    I doubt that's likely, though.

Weapons must reflect progress, acquiring statistics is very pleasant but being able to strut around exposing the fruit of one's labor to everyone is even more enjoyable, it is for me one of my main sources of motivation, we all like to rise above others, appearance plays a primordial role :)

    I agreeeeeed 100%.

Getting lucky or grinding to get that one epic looking rare drop is peak.

Putting in hours of time to become an expert of your craft to show if off? So cool.

Grinding pvp kills to get some crazy pvp armor? Terrifying
