Glorious Alpha Two Testers!

Alpha Two Realms are now unlocked for Phase II testing!

For our initial launch, testing will begin on Friday, December 20, 2024, at 10 AM Pacific and continue uninterrupted until Monday, January 6, 2025, at 10 AM Pacific. After January 6th, we’ll transition to a schedule of five-day-per-week access for the remainder of Phase II.

Community monster designs

Hey everyone! It's time to carry out our weight in the game design and suggest some awesome monster designs for the devs to take inspiration from. I believe this is necessary to avoid getting repeating monster designs when devs run out of imagination and ambition although the rest of the game seems pretty amazing.

Either describe what kind of monster or boss you'd like to see in game or post a pic of your design. If you don't have an original idea, then share us your opinion of other ideas.

What I'd like to see is some huge ancient dragon that caused the original cataclysm that made the ancestors to abandon their realm. I'd take some influence from the Monster Hunter series' Gravios with some red vains of that "cursed glow" we have seen in that spider monster in "a Mage's life" video.

Also I'd like to see this little tribe of felyne foxes that wonders around the woods. They could have shamans and warriors and be lethal if the whole tribe is faced alone.

  • i would like to see something like a field with lots of worms that rush out of the ground and if u stand on them they kill you so u need lots of mobility and pay attention to fight this space safely
  • I only just joined the Ashes of Creation forum today but from what I have seen from the few videos that have been released I like the boss that had the spider legs with a different top half. I think having monsters that have two body types is a cool concept much like the Greek mythology creatures eg: Centaurs, Minators etc

    I also think that having bosses that don't just have loads of health, but going for bosses that possess unique abilities and lots of bosses with different unique abilities is a good way to go. So many games now days get too repetitive due to the fact all the monsters are the same and the harder ones are just the same as the low level bosses just with more health and a bit more damage.

    So far the game looks promising and I'm glad I stumbled upon it.
  • An interesting boss would be one that manipulates itself as a player from the world. (Sort of similar to the mirror knight from Dark Souls). Would be interesting to just see it roaming around acting as if it was in peril or needed assistance and if you got to close. . . BOOM! It reveals its true form and now yours its prey.
  • Mimics would be nice.
  • It's sorta of like the Fanggler idea in terms of herbalism but with mining it would be sweet sort of like in WoW for Draenor where the creatures would attack you if you mined that ore, but it would cool if the ore vein was actually a monster taking the shape and looks of an ore from the outside. It could be different colors depending on the region or the deposit ( such as silver, or copper etc.). I don't see why you couldn't get materials from it either.

    Correct me if this is implemented in some other game, it would be appreciated if so :).
  • I want more of what they are already doing. In they way that dangerous enemies are not just one that are in large group or have a lot of health or damage but have certain abilities for ambushing/using their environment to their advantage which makes the monster more realistic and immersive and frankly not as boring or lazy as typical monsters. A good example of this would be the kaprosuchus in Ark which hides in swamps and then lunges at the player dragging them back into the swamp to eat them.
  • I got an idea of a rare goblin-leprechaun kind of a random rare mob that wouldn't give much of a fight but be agile and hard to catch. As killed one could get it's head which would be tradeable for some rare gear or upgrades with some NPC. More of it <a href="https://www.ashesofcreation.com/forums/topic/questing-in-open-world/" target="_blank">in this thread</a>.

    Oh did I forget to mention? Lorewise he captures children into his back sack and brings them into table for the little ones.

  • Ghostly Apparition ?  It'll appear like a " Congested Fog " . The closer you get to it, the more Environment itself will change to thick fog

  • I'd like a monster (that can be player controlled with coins) that hunts people and has a scary howl and also sneaky sneks that surprise people =p
