Just a thought idea.

I've been reading this manga I became the game's biggest villain. It has a part in the game where the MC is doing things normal. But because he beats this hard to kill boss monsters solo and had this other extremely hard quest event that was unfair and impossible for the most part. But the guy unlocked like a hidden chain in a sense.

This chain allowed him to basically become a boss monsters as a player. His punishment if he dies is he loses the character. But his rewards are immense.

My thought is simple. What if you added hidden things like this in the game that players could randomly find that are crazy rare but insanely cool concepts that makes some players OP in a sense, but makes them valuable on top of it.

It wouldn't be a core game thing. Just a crazy hidden mission set story model class. You could kind of call them boss classes. Only unlocked if you achieve what people think is impossible.

Or just ideas on the lines of these in a sense. I think it would be interesting a game where there could be players that come across crazy things like this added to the game and become kind of like legends to be hunted down.

sounds good on paper but in reality it wouldn't work. data miners would know about the equipment or whatever makes you op and tools made to find these spots. people who create hacks/cheats/exploits will take over this system and will most likely be a bought and paid for system by whoever controls it on whatever server.

The closest we will get to something like that is monster coin events, where you can take control over a type of mob and would even be able to progress when using it over and over again in monster coin events.
The other system that might satisfy this desire is the unique gear that can be created / acquired - obviously unique grade gear will have some insane stats and traits.

That being said: Something as outlandish as "insane rewards and power VS risk of character deletion" does not work in an MMORPG, it topples the balance of the game, the character has no plot armor so very few will be willing to sacrifice their character for something like that and in general: Since this would be entirely optional to the overall world that would make it in itself too meaningless to accept the risk. Rendering it a way too risky gimmick.

Which is why I would repeat this part: You will probably love monster coin events.
The answer is probably >>> HERE <<<

    Actually, kingrukur,

this kinda sounds a LOOOOOOOOOOOT like what can happen with the Monster Coin System, if what i always heard and read and watched about it, is somewhat true.

When People engage in the Monster Coin System and become let's say for Example a "Monster Coin Siege" onto an unfortunate Node who either has to defend itself or get visibly and probably significantly damaged,

" One of a few " - of these Monsterized Players - > can become Boss Monster-kind of Monsters. Big, huge Ones. And when i don't confuse things - > Players helping other Players to bring down these HUUGE Monsters, kinda gives them bigger Rewards or something as when they only help taking down the smaller Ones.

    I could be wrong, though.

But i think this could be added to the Monster Coin System for Flavour, in Case the Monster Coin System doesn't have such a Mechanic yet.

From what I recall when it comes to those kind of sieges the only rewards will be cosmetic ones, and a lot of players will have access to monster coins it's those boss ones which will be rare and hard to get a hold of.
  • I think things like this are fun, or being able to farm a pill/item and this pill turns you into a monster for an hour. In AoC there is something similiar that are monster coins, but they are an event thing.

I absolutely love consumables like that, turn yourself into something else for an hour or more, or summon something really scary like a manticore or whatever

I am ok in being level 500 for an hour and take the form of a black dragon that spits fire and acid
PvE means: A handful of coins and a bag of boredom.
