Agro but with Sight, sound and smell

I noticed in all the videos the mobs are all proximity agro. I played FFXI for years and Don't know why other MMOs do this as well.
Monsters who sight aggro you can sneak behind.
Monsters who sound aggro you can walk past.
You have a deodorize skill that let's you sneak past scent aggro mobs. as well as running through water would help loose aggro of a mob tracking by scent.
Undead could smell blood, a form of scent aggro. Low HP would increase the aggro range of undead.
Certain mobs like elementals were passive but would react to magic being cast and would aggro that way.
It adds a level of depth to the whole PvE experience. Is there even any other MMOs that have done this. seems like only FFXI has

funny but no, it's used for creatures to track the player. two things come into play and that's detect low hp (undead aggro) and scent tracking. mobs would stay on you and didn't have any leash range to it. the only way was to loose the scent or hope it didn't kill you while loading into another zone.
