Rotating Cosmetics... when?

RyucratRyucrat Member, Alpha One, Alpha Two, Early Alpha Two
As a connoisseur of FOMO cosmetics.. When might we seem them start rotating again? Up until Phase keys went on sale, I noticed the same specific pack had been present since December/January timeframe. If you have any extras you're hiding, I'd love to see them! <3

I hope there will be no timelimited, aka fomo cosmetics at all.
Keeps players in the game but also keeps players out.
There are a~ lot of players who don't wanna be s°bhuman type of players, just for not having met certain time-conditions in the past. And it is not to be underestimated how many there are.

About 4 or 5 years back there was a poll in a video of a streamer on twitch, maybe Asmongold or maybe but probably someone else, who made two polls for his chat in a row. I still remember that moment cuz to me it feels like this were the questions that are never getting asked enough.

° How many of you who watch me played WoW and are not inactive?
    And the answer was 87%.
    Followed up by
° How many of you would come back to the game it you could get every cosmetic in the game, even those now unavailable because they are currently time-limited?
    Answer: 92%.

Now we gotta keep in mind that this was an internet poll attended exclusively by a chat.
Which means tons of trolls, jesters, people who do not know what they want and lots of different figures.
The validity is up to faith I guess.
But I felt the sentiment behind it as someone who had subscribed to WoW for probably a full decade over the span of it entire lifetime.

Itemlevels are temporary but cosmetics are forever.
And there are a lot of cosmetics I missed out on which are now forever out of my reach.
I stopped playing WoW for other, immersion & escapism breaking reasons (DEI, wokeness, etc.) but even before there was a lot of dissatisfaction in me because of the cosmetics I missed out on.

And these made it much, much easier to suddenly let go when I did.
The feeling and rush of freedom when you truly part with something that was important to you for such a long time can be so uplifting too.
It is true what Taylor Durden said.

In any case whatever I expect for a game when it wants to "own" me and keep me around is, not to annoy me with trying to mentally manipulate, or frustrate me like WoW did.
This abusive relation ship models can go to hell.
I miss the time when playing was all about fun and not about how to try and chain the player.

Fomo? I do think its becoming a dying concept with the aging demographic of players around.
The moment is where it is at.
And the eternal chances for everyone to obtain everything.
Why reach for the stars if some of the stars among the sky are only available for such a brief time?
It better not be a goodlooking star.
Could keep a lot of players away who are aware what is being denied to them.

I have to disagree with you, limited edition cosmetics/ item that has 1 drop per sever are cool asf and should be like it is

He means "FOMO" Moments. Time-Periods. Limited Access to Cosmetics because these Cosmetics are only around for a few Weeks or Months or so at certain Dates of Time.

This is not innovative or brilliant when you think about it. This is nothing else but simply the Attempt to force People to subscribe at certain Moments in time.

    Of Course,
" WHEN " this is officially a Game's Stategy -> let them do it. People can decide after all what they want to do with their Game they have the respective Rights of.

But many of us hope that Ashes of Creation will not go down this Route. Or at least not much. A certain Game called Worst of Warcraft umm i mean "World" of Warcraft, does this all the time.

You have ingame "Seasons" every Expansion. And there is Stuff You can only get, by playing for Example PvP like a Madman every single Season. Otherwise -> some Mounts which's Looks you could like - will forever be out of your Reach.

    Yes,
Blizzard can do that. But at the same Time and People should just admit that -> they constantly prove to some People why they should never participate in World of Warcraft as Customers.

Because there is just so much Stuff that was around Years and Years ago, which newer Players will never have. And the older the Game gets -> the worse this Gap between the "Whales" of former Years - and Newcomers, will grow.

We all know, Dripyula included -> that there will be Server-Unique Legendary Items and Drops and so on. And that is completely okay and fine.

This is not "FOMO" if you think about it. This is simply the Thrill of Luck and whoever might get the Item first.

If You however constantly need to subscribe -> "AND" in the worst Case even need to loosen up some Extra-Cash of yours, at a certain Point of the Year - and this EVERY single Year -> only to get some cool looking Cosmetics, Items, Mounts, etc.,

than this is simply forcing the Player.

By the Nine Divines and the Nine Hells. Please let us play an MMO solely for Fun again. Just Fun. And every capable Game is easily and in fact effortlessly Fun without the FOMO Stuff.

Back on track to FOMO.. Which is the subject of today's conversation, not subscriptions. I need my cosmetics :)

If i tell You that this is completely okay - as long as it is not time-limited/gated - would you accept this ?

    A Shop is completely okay.

But everything else should be simply Stuff You can work to get. Every single Year -> every different Time of the Year. It will keep things more equal.

There have been time-limited Cosmetics before - but can we Please stop this before it becomes a bad trend that reminds People of complete Shitshows like Worst of Warcraft's time-gated Stuff ?

Cosmetics that's are earnable should always be priority. And no flavor of the month nonsense. If things must cycle then whatever, but no more 'snooze you lose' on cosmetics gotten with card swipes once the game launches.

The Halloween one has been there for a year. Didn't like it then ..
I would have upgraded again but don't want that trash in my inventory.

I'm sure they'll start up again at some point. They were generally very well received. They just started running out of ideas after a while.
