Don't get me wrong the website looks amazing and a lot better, but the race art style declined in quality. (It looks more cute and less fantasy, made all races lose their characteristics and look human as well)rephfjwjb7nw.jpg

I think the new ones on the site are more like icons rather than an a accurate depiction.

At least I hope it is because if it isn't I agree with you. The site ones look cartoony.

What politics do you see in having a totally normal human woman representing one of the human races?

You should try to be a little less oversensitive. It'll do you some good

Both of the human races. I would have liked to see one of the humans be a male tank or fighter (either one)
Otherwise it's fine - the races are all equally represented except for the sole Tulnar since that race isn't split into two.

I prefer the other art style.

It's just concept art; not actual in-game models.

Tulnar is split into 'three' sort of (but the female models other than the humanoid look too much like furry bait at the moment). And sure they could've done an even split, but them not doing that is so beyond 'no big deal' I don't understand how anyone could be throwing up a fuss about it.

If they didn't plug in another set of examples before long I'd be surprised (hopefully ones that look less plastic). There's a lack of action shots for all the art so far, and the 'fantasy fashion show' like someone called it isn't my favorite.

I much prefer the original art style and would like to see that be the baseline moving forward, especially in promotional material.

A lot of people - myself included - exclusively play male characters and like the aesthetics of a guy in armour, so it's tiresome when so many fantasy games are artificially swapping out depictions of men in such a role for women instead.

You are more than free to play a man in armor. I dare say you won't be anywhere remotely close to unique in that regard. Also has nothing to do with promotional art not featuring 'man' as the default. Criticize the art itself being questionable quality, because it is a pervasive style that's not appealing and lands right smack dab in uncanny valley, but all this whining about women in 'man roles' is just embarrassing.

Where did I suggest that I wasn't free to do so? It isn't 'whining' to leave feedback on a forum intended for that and especially not during an early access period.

I'd say the term is more applicable to you, if anything, given that you repeatedly quote and deflect away from the issue across multiple threads when anyone touches on it even lightly.

I don't expect you to 'get it'. I don't expect you to even agree with me, though I'd kindly ask you to cease attempting to police what subjects posters are allowed to bring up. Especially when there's very clear evidence of the original artwork depicting men pulling a bait and switch to depict women instead.

It's not rocket science. Some of us actually quite like men and want to look at them, particularly in traditionally masculine roles. I fit into that category myself and I have seen it occur in a great many games in recent years, thus the desire to speak out against it when I see it.

We should have a better idea about options for "masculine" men in about a week, when Alpha 2 begins and we get a look at the current Character Creator.

Like the guy in this video:
    https://ashesofcreation.com/archetypes/Fighter

You are really whining (yes whining), because on a total of nine characters there is five women. I don't like the art style either.
You perfectly known that the archetype aren't gender lock and you will be able to make your male avatar with a big armor.

'They made the mistake of putting woman in Man Role' is absolutely whining lmao. Ain't no dressing it up as anything else.

Not being the default promo image =/= an attack on men in armor

And? You being gay (or bi, whatever) doesn't make it not whining to complain about a woman image being used as a promo image for Kaelar.

You're being very disingenuous and it's honestly rather weird that you're dragging this out across multiple threads at this point. I've already expressed a willingness to agree to disagree, so please cease the concern trolling and peddling of false narratives.

Feel to free to make use of the ignore function, I intend to do that myself as I have little interest in engaging with posters who are unwilling to partake of discussions in good faith.

I dont care if its a chick, or what color the chick is... It just needs to look cool, the new art looks bad/not cool.

That being said, I would say its reasonable for some people to be concerned about DEI/Woke insertion seeing as its currently a hot topic in game development, and a cause for bad writing which has flopped quite a few games. If its genuinely just some sort of checklist fulfillment insertion or in anyway an in your face agenda push like some other games have done recently, that would indeed be not ideal, and it would be a bad look for the game.
HOWEVER...as long as everything makes sense in the lore and the lore is well written and interesting, none of the current designs will be an issue. Just focus on fantasy world stuff.

As I have always been with ashes, I will remain cautiously optimistic. But the main point of this whole ordeal should be that the art quality is bad. It'd be an improvement if they just used the old race concept art heads.

This is one of thouse threads were I crave a downvote button so badly, all these people screaming woke I hope get their asses handed too them by some female avatars.

Also new Dwarf female is perfect is you ask me. So much better then the typical scrawny gnomish looking Dwarf women most games have, particularly bad in Asian MMO's but even WoW was not good. Dwarves do not have the sexual dimphism of Lowland Gorillas for crying out loud, they should infact have LESS Dimorphism then humans acording to all their lore.

I like how they go for the diversity push and end up putting the black woman at back of the bus
