How / What goes into Game Clothing Designs - Thought Process / Development -

And will there be opportunities to develop fan-made concepts as in-game cosmetic items?

This last idea would be really neat as a community-driven contest where the final design or maybe even the top 3 get voted into existence. I think the creator of the original design should also get this cosmetic gifted to them in-game if they do win, perhaps.

What all goes into the skill set behind developing clothing items for a game like AOC? This has been something that has always interested me but I wasn't aware of even where to start learning something like this.

I get the basic idea, Storyline/realm inspired - themed pieces for events, how do you go about keeping the designs cohesive to the world and yet attract your audience?

I know that 3D sculpting plays a part, what are the specific programs that need to be learned as a studio basic for this?

What about then taking those designs and turning them into assets that get used in the game?

This probably isn't the right place to post this but I wasn't aware where else to do so and I know there are probably a few really awesome people what the knowledge of what I'm asking about.

I love player-contests personally, especially for things that'll show up in-game. It wouldn't be any different than what they've already done.

Concept sketches, directional sketches, drafting and refining in 3D then pains rigging all the flowy bits. But yeah, the workflow would be the same, just with inspiration sourced from contest entries.

The main thing would just be making sure what gets submitted is personal work and not ripped from a different artist or something. Some studios (ZOS *ahem*) have had some art theft issues lately and I'd very much like to believe Intrepid would actual get things verified before grabbing artistic ideas from outside sources.
