The quests are as bad as the combat is great

I had assumed that alpha two was buggy and sluggish in terms of gameplay, but at least had a solid questing system in place.
It's the complete opposite. Combat is super fun, performance is ok-ish, but it still feels really good and i'm having a blast killing stuff. The quests are a disaster. So many quests don't have a functioning marker or they don't advance properly and have to be cancelled, etc.. There are a couple quests about killing mobs (grems, wolves, etc.) in the south of lionhold. There is no decent marker (or at least it didn't work on my end) showing you which of the 3 spawn points actually provide kills towards the quest. Many invincible quest mobs or items (e.g. tree splinters) that cannot be picked up. The progress is also glacially slow.
This is from the viewpoint of a couple hours and level 5.

I also ran into the issue of quests not showing highlighted areas, I wasn't sure if it was a bug or intentional

The quests are likely mostly placeholder quests just to give people something to do to level. I'm sure some of the quests that are in now will be in the full release but I would fully expect them to be significantly different.

Story Arcs are a big part of questing also and they don't come online until Phase 2

People recommend running event zones and commissions instead, much more effective in XP/hour and not as frustrating

yeah, it seems like everyone is just farming halls or chapel. I obviously didn't expect the whole game to be there, but what's the point of grinding the same mobs for 40 hours just to do the raid? If we're just to test the technical aspect, increase levelling speed so we can ALL get to the content. If you want us to explore, well, give us something to do....

Quests are not in a place where they are worth engaging in. Nor is the commission board presently.
Hope that changes in the future. Unless the intent is to be more like EQ where the quests added story for those that wanted it but otherwise you mostly just did the farm xp grind.

I agree with this. Why make it difficult to "Grind XP" if we are just testing basic systems? You can always revert the requirement when the game releases. Seems odd that we spend all the time leveling when the high end is what is needed for testing.

In short greatly increase the XP rate so that we can get to actually testing the systems that need testing.

I do agree that grinding in a group shouldn't be more worthwhile than doing quests. For xp gaps, sure, for special stuff, sure - but it should be an option to get a feel for the game and for your archetype, especially at lower levels, while soloing without dieing every third mob.
