Switching targets after enabling auto attack should not stop auto attack

As the title explains, if I am attacking something and I switch targets, it should continue auto attacking and not require me to enable attacking again as I am already in combat.

EDIT: I believe this is a bug and not an intentional design. I sent in a bug report.

Having AA after spells switched on should also have functionality built in for break on damage CC spells like sleep that stops it. I keep accidentally breaking my sleeps because my character auto attacks them.

Honestly, this turning off while fighting multiple mobs can be annoying but at the same time this keeps you from not only pulling more mobs on accident, but also not breaking cc's etc. i imagine at some point it will be important to not have this happening.

IMO its one button to push that doesn't effect GCD's or anything else and isnt that big of an issue. just inconvenient at best

The one thing I DO NOT LIKE in auto-attack implementations, and the reason I specifically replied to this particular feedback, is auto-attack continuing across target switches. As a cleric with a single crowd control tool who is frequently the only member of my small party (or solo) with a crowd control talent, having auto attack with a wand immediately commence upon a target swap can be the difference between life and death in a fight where the party is pushing its capabilities. Forcing me (or any other CC wielder) to swap targets, intentionally TURN ATTACK OFF, verify the auto attack did NOT have the extreme misfortune of applying a DOT, commence CC, and THEN return to primary responsibilities can be the 1-2 seconds (or as much as 8 for a stack of burning) difference between taking a mob out of the fight and the party surviving and having the additional mob's DPS overcome the available healing and wipe the party. Players HAVE TO be expected to INTIATE combat with each individual mob except in cases of AOE usage.

After some testing, I believe this is a bug. I've submitted a /bug report about this. During testing I found that several times while ranged attacking, it would change targets and attack successfully. Other times it would just randomly stop. This was both with melee and ranged, but much more noticeable on ranged attacks.

I totally agree. If I'm still in combat, my AA shouldn't stop
