Lionhold is amazing, but it could be better.

So I love high fantasy, but I also love when it's grounded in reality. and looking at the enemies around lionhold it raises the question, why is there so many wolves and bandits close by? Naturally wolves are skittish and don't hunt humans, and the bandit population is odd because they seem to be peppered around and hanging out right next to the guards patrolling.

Another issue is your nodes for metal, there always seem like a lack of mining nodes around and surface mining gets a little boring and again not grounded in reality. I just don't think heavy metals should be on the surface everywhere.

So my idea is this, a cave. the mouth of this cave can be a wide entrance, this is the first entrance to this cave that players will come across it will be the "main entrance" located around the mountain that the griffons are on for the sightseeing job from the mission board.

Inside the cave will be a wolves den. aggressive wolves that call that cave their home. they attack because that is their territory. At night the wolves can start spawning around cave entrances leading to the "kill the wolves at night" repeatable (these outside wolves can be hungry wolves so lower their level a little bit compared to the ones inside creating that small level gap)

this cave system can have multiple entrances and exits, one idea I have is when walking through the main entrance you see a cliff that you can't get to. this cliff will be accessed by falling down a pit from the top of the mountain where the griffons are into a pool of water to catch the players fall.

Lionhold has a lower area that's still being worked on, the back rooms can have a cave in where you can see past it but can't get behind it (this works as a wall but also tease what's back there) the cave system will lead down into the cut off section of lionhold where players can go through to find an old mine used by the former civilization and maybe the tomb of King Atrax can be a dungeon down there as well.

The original Diablo game was amazing and the decent into hell starting from the cathedral going into caves and finally ending up in hell was awesome, it's an experience I have yet to see and as amazing as Diablo II was, I was a little disappointed they didn't follow what the first one did and instead introduced acts to the game. Great game and still love it but man part of that dive down is what made it one the best PC games of all time.
