Render distance for players and npcs
MilosAoC
The render distance on other players, npcs, caravans etc was really rough during this first test.
I couldnt see the caravan driving 50 meters in front of me.
I understand that this was probably done to keep the servers more stable during this first test, and this will be improved later on, but i just wanna mention this anyway. Even if its doubled from what it is now it still wouldnt be nearly enough IMO.
Doing large scale pvp is just not really gonna be fun if you can only ever see who is right in front of you. I really really hope intrepid can nail the netcode, if they can this game will be amazing.

yep youre totally right and i also hope the same for graphical render distance, bc. especially the textures get very blurry and undetailed within about 4-5 steps of range. obvsl. thats also something about the netcode and due to performance.

Fog of war? I could see them using particle effects to kick up dust to obscure visibility during PVP beyond a certain distance. Would depend on terrain.
But yeah, running around the world at low levels only to suddenly come upon a gaggle of significantly higher mobs forces you to tread carefully. I am assuming they had things dialed down to help server performance.

The LOD was a big graphics problem. Made the world feel really ugly and the picture unstable at times

Server meshing is turned off right now. They are working on it. When they get it working or switch to a new plan. We will see this fixed.
