I hope Ashes focuses on quality not quantity of quests

Most MMOs do not have any standards for their quests. They just make as many as they can and do not think about if the quests are fun to play through or not. I hope Ashes has fewer quests than most MMOs but the quests they do have are really well made and enjoyable. Kill X number of mobs, kill and collect, and fetch quests have been done to death and it’s time to move on from them. When you get a quest you should be excited to go on a fun adventure where you learn about the world. Not feel like your doing your 5,356 chore. Let’s make quests feel like quests again!

So far, Alpha2 jank aside, Ashes seems to be doing fairly well with the few expansive quests I've encountered.

A scholar sent me after lore about an old god, and the priest from Lionhold has more meat to the Garrison story if you read his book in the tent. It's got good bones so far that leave me pretty confident about the direction of quests that are intended to be significant, even though it still needs a ton of work.

The commission board is a little... meh. It's honest about being busywork I'll give it that, but it's just a grab and forget sort of thing. (Also please just make them turn in automatically once completed if it's going to keep the behavior that it doesn't have to be 'turned in' anywhere)

I partially agree with you. I'm not a fan of having to talk to X amount of NPCs to receive a single kill and collect quest each time. And I agree, that having to do a tedious amount of quests rather than challenging ones is not fun. But for me, kill and collect quests are totally okay if they take place in dynamic public events. I know Ashes has those, but I don't know how frequent they are. Warhammer Online and Guild Wars 2 did this quite well for me. In those games, it didn’t bother me at all to do a lot of killing and collecting and it was actually quite fun. For me, quests in an MMO need to involve defeating enemies, I would not enjoy to many quest like in RuneScape where you have to solve puzzles or talk to people rather then killing enemies. Of course a decent amount of quests like this would be fun.
