I have to say that playtesting this is too slow. I don't have hours on end to grind away at content. Also the XP loss on death makes me think that I just wasted a bunch of money. I will never play a game with XP debt on death. Seems like a cool game for elitists. I am looking for something more casual. GLHF.

What kind of game did you think you were backing during Kickstart? A cool game for non casuals hearkening back to the good ole days of MMO's was on the pamphlet...

XP debt is not the same as XP loss...

GW2 exists and that's about as hand held as it gets while still being a great game, I just tired of it and the inventory bloat. But would recommend it to anyone looking for a casual mmo

Yeah, I just had to get over myself, take a deep breath and go play. I guess that this will still be good feedback for the game though. I know what I signed up for, but I did not expect it to play like EQ1 in terms of a death system. To be clear that was a misconception by me, because I had died multiple times trying to get to my corpse. Once I approached it more carefully it was not as bad as I had thought it was. Needless to say, it is a negative experience, and I do not think it adds any value to gameplay. There is already penalty enough for dying. You may lose things or spend quite some time recovering them, the XP debt is just salt in the wound IMHO. This is just open, honest, candid, feedback from a long time MMO player. There is a reason that games like UO and EQ are no longer relevant. Maybe Steven's little dream world will just be a niche playground for the few or maybe it will be what we all hope it will be, either way, stuff happens and life goes on.

Yes I am hoping to catch a ride on what I think may be the last, great MMO. But if it just turns into the same old elitist playground, without room for casuals like me, it is not going to break my heart, there are plenty of other options out there for me.

Taking a deep breath and acknowledging the perspective is healthy...
I took me a while to readjust too, I am also familiar with the current casual MMO experience.

Voicing your negative experience is all good feedback.

And while I don't think XP debt should be removed.
It could be overall tuned down ,
It could be removed for the first 10 levels to not punish new players.
Being resurrected by a Cleric could reduce it by 50%

Also i think if your in a guild, the guild should take 50% of member XP debt as this will promote guild creation and membership but reduce the likelihood of mega guilds. With Guilds also having a (level up system)

I have Alpha Access as well but am holding off until playable Dunir and a bit more server stabilty + Aussie ping woes

But If you need a leveling up bro Argantis, Just name a server and let me know...

My perspective is slightly different since I don't die very often (I'm a bard and can flee easily and I'm always with a group). I don't find the death penalty bad at all because it is usually worked off with only a few kills.

I guess the root of the issue falls into - why do you feel like you need to be doing the same thing over and over again to continue to die and rack up such a large debt? Are you attempting to solo or do you have friends to help you clear the way?

These are the kinds of questions that should be considered before the devs make changes to the system (though the devs probably have data on how often players accumulate massive xp debts)

I usually consider whatever was on my corpse lost since it is almost always looted by someone else before I get there unless I know for a fact my guildmates are guarding it, so I rarely need to die again to do the same corpse run multiple times.
