Grandmaster Artisanship questions

I've been following this game on and off and I still have some doubts regarding Artisanship:

1 - To become a Grandmaster in a crafting profession, it must be through a Scientific Metropolis (where certification quests become available)?

- If this is correct, if you are a citizen of any other node type, you can not become a Grandmaster?

2 - We can only craft Grandmaster recipes in a Freehold ???

- From what I remember, there will be very very few Freeholds available for people since they are not instanced but in open world, so if you don't have one (because you started later or any other reason) you will never be able to craft Grandmaster recipes? (unless you know someone with one and that happens to have your professions building)

Thank you!

    1. I didn’t see any details in the Wiki on this restriction, Mork. We might not see the implementation of the quests for Grandmaster until the Beta phase of Ashes … so stay tuned. Even if you do have to seek out a scientific node, I’d venture a guess that it will not require the node level to be maxed out to a metropolis.

    2. Yes and no. If you decide on one of the Processing artisanship disciplines, yes, you’ll need to make friends with a freehold owner or own your own freehold. If you decide to specialize in one of the Crafting artisanship disciplines, Grandmaster activities are done in the node city crafting areas.

sorry I am a litle confused
So, freeholds are only avaiable at node lvl 3
imagine I roll Leatherworking and I need Processing goods to level
iIwill not get them until node lvl 3 and when I do, they are going to be sky high prices because of freeholds being so scarce?
  • Processing up to tier 3 will be possible in nodes, it's the TOP processing which is restricted to Freeholds, not all processing.

Understood so for players like me that most likely will never have access to a freehold, a processing profession is only good to use until Jorneyman level, after that its useless/impossible to level.

Thank you, just trying to judge and plan professions, I was very interested at processing professions because its something new but I can see I can not use them much.

    Thank you all

Remember that Ashes is an MMO and not a single-player RPG, Mork.

If you decide on playing the game when it launches, a certain level of engagement with other players is expected ... simply because by default the genre is Massively Multiplayer Online.

Saying that the Processing is useless/impossible to level is a little disingenuous ... when all you have to do between now and launch is make a few friends.

Never said anything about not playing or talking with other players, dunno where you got that ideia.
I say its useless because i doubt im getting any freehold and counting on a guildie to have it is also not a sure thing.
I'm only planning professions with the information I have and it seems a processing profession will most likely be useless for me personally so I better think of other route, thats all.

i don't agree with this design decision but you don't even see me whining, just asking and making a point.
Tanning until Jorneyman and thats it.

    Thank you
