Chat Functionality

i found the chat functionality super cumbersome.
having to navigate a drop-down menu then click inside the chat box to type anything was VERY frustrating in any environment outside of sitting around in town. and even in town, it was mildly irritating.
there were more times than i can count that mid combat i woulda loved to quickly communicate something to my party members but didn't because i didn't want to jump through the hoops needed to do it.
a quick "/p adds coming" which takes 1-2 seconds to type out or something similarly can sometimes really save the day in a chaotic situation, but it doesn't appear that quick communication is possible outside of being in voice coms.
if i'm missing something that would have enabled quicker communication, please let me know.
