In Alpha 2, we had a fight with a group of players who kept respawning at the nearest Emberspring. While the constant battle was somewhat fun, it made it nearly impossible to engage with MOBS or NPC's, as the respawning players kept interrupting and distracting the party by pulling more NPC's / trying to kill players. Are there any plans or potential solutions to address this issue?

The idea is that the stat dampening that follows the XP debt of those who keep dying will keep increasing, and it will eventually become harsh enough that the losing side will be so weak they have to retreat.

Now, training another group with mobs can be done even if stat-dampened of course, but I also think behaviour like that once the game has released will be met with harsher consequences. Right now people don't really care about the longevity of their characters or their reputation.

At the end of the day, it is a part of the game. I hope it doesn't become a major part of the game though.
  • good, sounds like work as intended
PvE means: A handful of coins and a bag of boredom.

Definitely sounds like exactly what I was expecting from this design, because this is how things worked in L2. The further away you are from a respawn point - the higher the risk of pvp, because if you die there - you waste time running back instead of just farming. But the reward is also higher, because if you win - you get to farm the location for longer w/o any interruptions.

I do agree that right now some of the respawn locations are too damn close to dungeons. But that is easily fixable and testable in P2-3.

For us it was with Firebrand. The Emberspring is literally next to him. :-D

We got stuck at a respawn point. It kinda sucks. I think it would be nice if you could have more then one respawn point. Where you bind and maybe something like Lionhold. Whatever major city or town that's closest to where you died.

There is. You can have a "home" respawn and then the local attuned one. You need to speak to the shrine twice to make it your home (once if you're already attuned to it iirc).

So how do you pick where you respawn?

If you have a "home" respawn, then you simply click on which one you want to use after dying. :)
