You can download the game launcher here and we encourage you to join us on our for the most up to date testing news.

With the current map size and layout, is there room for freeholds and metropolis cities?

As the title says, is there enough room for the freehold system that Intrepid wants to introduce, and is there enough room for a node to become a metropolis in the future? It feels like it's just a tad to small for that currently.

We have only seen roughly 5% of the world so far and it seems big enough for 1 metro in the area.

Freeholds however that remains to be seen. But there is an upper limit on how many can be set out.
Most people never listen. They are just waiting on you to quit making noise so they can.

We don't get a lot of freeholds to begin with, so yes, I think there is room, but for a metro with the most freeholds possible, I am guessing it might seem a little cramped at times with the surrounding freeholds and their baronies. A freehold is about 100x60 meters, which is sizable, but Verra is big too.

So looking back at the information we are given, like how the villages have an area for crafting station and whatnot, a whole different area called the Baronies will be in or near town. this area will make use of the freeholds.

My speculation is the Baronies will release during Phase II when they start doing more focused testing on nodes.

There are empty "lots" of land around the map. I think those are meant for freehold placement.

Some one said that they can see/tell the land that Metropolises can expand into, and they are huge. I think freeholds (buildings) are a lot smaller in footprint than people realize and and that most of the land in a barony is going to be open and available for story arcs. As far as I can tell, each Barony (3 per node) will have 8-15 freeholds at level6, which I think will be arranged around the outside with perhaps a central feature in the middle like a hunting wood, or a ruin/barrow that at times will contain PvE content, but may also have some feature that the owner of the barony can build, be it a guild hall or mine or meadow/lake/cavern for communal farming or animal husbandry.

Current testing is just on a tiny part of area. And the Metropolis are not expected (even Phase 3 is only node level 5).

There is so much unused space. Go wander around.

It's coming up soon, the Alpha 2 Road map on August 18th says we're getting Freeholds and Instance Housing during Phase 2, December 20th.

As well as a bunch of other systems :), but most importantly, we can test the Rogue class which is probably going to be OP lol

We'll end up like FFXIV, with scalpers buying up lots of plots and the majority of players with no chance to ever get a home.

But there are instanced apartments inside nodes, so no problem.
