The personal shared inventory would just be a matter of convenience, it wouldn't be un-balanced any more than guild storage.
Also on this issue: if you want your alts to play in different parts of the map, shared storage wouldn't help quite as much. I guess you could just run to shared storage at levels 10,20,30,40,and 50 when it matters.
What you want to "ban" is emailing gear.
As an altaholic, the only thing I "demand" from a game is letting me skip the tutorial the 2nd time around. And having the same Friends list, but that's almost universal. I can figure out the rest.
In some games I'd prefer to skip the (2nd) story quests if possible--depends on the game. Long annoying quests or unskippable cut scenes. Stuff like that. Even then, the 2nd time is fine. It's playthrough number 3 where it starts to get to me.
Edit: Oh yeah, or a hardcore mode with permadeath. That's like an alt. Don't make me re-do all that crap every time.
