Frame Generation / DLSS

Hello, Something is up with performance when it comes to FG and DLSS. I am running 13900k and RTX 4090, when DLSS is turned on , frames appear to drop when using in game FPS counter, it should be opposite effect, same goes with frame gen, when turned on , FPS drops furthermore and game seems to cap it at 60 FPS. Did anybody else encounter this and is there a solution?

Ya I lose about 15 frames with FG turned on.

If you have a 4090 you should not need any frame generation in the first place.
my solution is turn it off unless your using a GTX980/1050

im using a 4070ti super on ultrawide and am losing 10-15 frames with it on. just fyi for devs or whoever

Uncommon Sense, that is beyond the point. Game has frame gen implemented, I am just pointing out its not working like it should. Rather one needs it or not is a matter of opinion, it also depends what resolution one is playing on, perhaps 8k? I am not 8k however rather demanding 5120x1440 which is darn close to 4k pixel count and trying to achieve as close to steady 120 fps as possible. I mean 4090 or not , we all paid for the tech ,especially 4090 carrying a hefty price, game takes advantage of such GPU yet feature is not working properly. If there is no intention to fix then why implement at all? I think its logical. WIth this being said, I am not bashing or screaming why its not fixed yet knowing its alpha, I am just bringing it up ,because something is not right when feature is on.

Wait are you telling me a 4090 will not hit 120fps at 1440p native?

I don't have the option for DLSS or frame gen only (Screen percentage) which I assume is just FSR upscaling. In which case my RX6800 goes from 4k 30fps native to 4k 60fps balanced. But 58fps on quality so I stick to that...

Frame gen typically adds input latency so I wouldn't use it in that respect but the fact you get worse frame rates with it on is definitely broken...

Yes, it doesn't and I have ,because the performance and compatibility is all over the place with this game now. It really should ,because I know what it is capable of. And this is talking about one of the ,if not the most powerful version of 4090 ( ROG RTX 4090 Gaming OC) , stable user overclock on top of that. Just to put in into clear perspective, with Ultra preset which puts everything at Epic, quality DLSS preset and Frame Gen on , there are plenty of areas it hits below 70 FPS, never really reaches steady 120 FPS in least demanding areas. Average I would say is 80-90 FPS. If the upscaler and frame gen worked properly, I can see easily getting 120 fps capped and forget about it. Not sure why you have only screen percentage, for me super resolution and frame gen pops up. I know what frame gen is and I don't care about little latency added, its a joke, before without any of these features in the past, latencies were a lot higher, people are over concerned about this, also with frame gen comes nvidia reflex which should address that to some extent, also a feature in the game yet it does not do anything. Yes, its broken .

Well Its appears Nvidia GPU feature sets are being catered to even if they are boked at this point.

I pretty much have everything on epic except Global illumination and shadows set to medium and Screen percentage (FSR) at quality..

this gives me about 55fps at 4k. RX6800

Each new day of testing seems to be less taxing on GPU vram 12GB or less now with system ram still around 20GB

Personally, i can't turn on Frame Generation, even though I am using a laptop 4080. It supports frame gen, but the game tells me otherwise.

It seems to work for me, it almost doubles my fps, however I have to manually enabled frame gen every time I restart.

I have a 4070 Super and cannot enable Frame Generation, not supported by RHI.

I also have Hardware Acceleration GPU enabled in Windows.

I gained frames when using the in-game DLSS, however I have to enable it at every game start, as it disables itself. Also occasionally my in-game resolution changes weird lower res, I assume that has something to do with me running the game in "Window-Fullscreen mode" and alt-tabbing.

You are losing FPS with DLSS On as compared to DLSS Off because the game's native scaler is below DLSS Performance, which is why even with DLSS Performance you lose about 5 fps on average as compared to DLSS Off.

DLSS Off means you're not rendering at native resolution, but between DLSS Ultra Performance and DLSS Performance.
