Ressource identification on horseback

Hi. Just wanted to give my feedback on the Artisan system. First reactions: I felt that it was necessary as a system to progress my character as I have yet to receive an item of armour or a weapon dropped from a mob.
I then started to gain interest for the crafting system and realised it was the beginning of a massive grind starting with gathering the necessary ressources. Said ressources are not plentiful to say the least. Whether this is good or bad is another discussion.
So I found my self exploring the map on horseback looking for ressources. This is made laborious by not being able to identify the ressources by mouseover whilst still on your horse. Low level that I am, I can't gather just anything.
Add this to the difficulties of switching between action mode and mouse mode, having to dismount evrytime you come across a rock formation does nothing to enhance the gathering experience.
Gathering and crafting is going to be a big part of this game and so it needs to be a fulfilling experience imo.
