Unable to detoggle sprint - stam keeps getting drained

I could be missing something, but it seems like no matter what i do, after ive toggled sprint its just impossible to detoggle it later.
Pressing the toggle does seem to do something, i think my character is actually slower and not sprinting sometimes, but the stamina just keeps getting drained. The stam drain is super anoying. Would be a great QoL if this gets addressed
