Cleric's conflagrate spell (Smite)

MagiesMagies Member, Alpha Two
Since cleric's don't really have much of a damage abilities, I think the option to spend a skill point so that smite procs conflagrate to adjacent targets would be a great synergy addition to the cleric kit.

I find myself AoEing and herding mobs stacking burn but do not have the option to consume it unless its one target.

Since blessings fire debuff can apply to multiple targets while on melee i figured it would make sense if smite could do the same.

Thank you for your time.

At the risk of agreeing to a buff my AOE! post, I like this. Clerics are currently pretty one-dimensional in their focus of fulfilling the Healer branch of the trinity, adding a bit more variety wouldn't be a bad thing.

Requiring a skill point investment I think would be a good tradeoff to smite consuming nearby burning debuffs as well, maybe up to 2, with another skill point increasing the limit. Make it more of a commitment to damage vs another healing utility.

Alternatively, could make the skill branch to consuming nearby burning debuffs for a boosted conflagrate on a single target.

I agree with the original post about the lack of damage and expanding the conflagrate to smite to aoe all target. As the second post mentions clerics are super on dimensional in filling the role of healer. This makes them slow to solo level limits damage out but gives them high survivability. Allowing smite conflagrate would make sense given that the level 10 range spells in the skill tree focus almost exclusively on aoe. This would allow for my consistent dmg and emphasis the slow consistent damage with multi mob pulls and kitting.
I do assume that more of a unique and multi dimensional play style will come as higher levels and multi classing are available.
