The one thing I wasn't a fan of in terms of the answer given was 'our game is going to be more grindy that what most gamers are used to'.
I feel like, you can still have a good level of grinding (I refer to grinding as your typical Korean MMORPG where you kill 600 rabbit (in our case bears/goblins) in order to level and gain exp.
I think if this is the main way to level the longevity of the game will die.
Those that want to do it, sure have it in the game.
HOWEVER, those that don't like it, give us a equally rewarding (loot and exp) questing system.
This way, both get what they want and your game can still be grindy
I think you may have missed a part of the interview. "Grindy" doesnt always mean killing enemies. grindy could be a length quest line, as well as an extensive crafting system thats a time sink. Steven had said in the interview that its ONLY like this now, because other systems are not in place. this, for the 100th time, is the stress test portion of the game. not testing of systems.
He stated there will be multiple ways to progress in leveling, questing being a big one. those systems are not out yet. because its Phase-1 of alpha which again... is a shell of the game in order to test.. you guessed it! server stability(not in-game systems)
