game loop, pvp, xp penalty

I really want to see no loss of XP but a penalty to stats when i die. This will also make this loop possible at end game as you will no longer need xp but youll need xp to remove the penalty. Each death assigned negative points to all stats and you will have to earn XP to remove the penalty to stats from death. This will make me want to keep grinding XP putting me in the world for interaction for pvp etc. PVP in this game with the current system reminds me of New world and why it failed. Along with the hard penalty to pvp balance of how you drop items etc, just hire me and ill fix your problems

Stat penalty is even worse than XP debt. Yet you suggest it still take XP to remove stats debuffs.. WTF are smoking?

You know what else happens when you die?...your gear gets damaged which essentially is a stat penalty and you have to grind ti make in game currency to pay for repairs.

The reason why New World failed is because they tried to shoehorn into a PVE game last minute.

Your not even alpha testing...you joined the forum like 10min ago my guy...

Experience debt is a stat loss.

The experience debt part of it is the duration of that penalty - the longer you have experience debt, the longer you have to suffer the stat dampening penalty. You have to work that penalty off, via gaining experience - however the penalty is the stat dampening (and the lower drop rate of items while you have experience debt).

This effect will apply equally at the level cap. The system is not fully implemented as yet - like every system in the game.

Yes stat penalty... You work off the penalty by killing mobs and earning XP. New world was originally PVP but they had to many care bears complaining of the pvp system so they switched to make their money.

Not at Max level you will not have this loop... also repairing isnt sufficient cus everyone will have PLENTY of money

    Yes you will.

Just because you don't need experience to get another level, doesn't mean you can't still go in to experience debt - and have all the stat dampening and other effects that go along with it.

It would function the same as if you just gained a new level and died. You don't go back a level, you just have negative experience and the penalty associated with experience debt until you work it off.

Remember, the penalty isn't the debt in experience you owe. That is more like the duration of the penalty - you have the penalty until you have paid back that debt. The penalty is the stat dampening and drop rate reduction, which matter just as much at the level cap as at any other level.

...You should probably read the wiki on exp debt. It's going to function exactly like how you're saying it should act.

    - No exp is removed from the player's level meter (aka no deleveling)
    - There is a scaling stat penalty based on how much exp debt you've accrued
    - You remove that penalty in full by gaining exp in the amount of the exp debt
    - If not max level, then gaining the amount of that exp debt means you can now continue progressing toward the next level
