Hop instead of roll - Dodge Change

AquinasAquinas Member, Alpha Two
Not much needs to be said - A hop would feel more like a tank than rolling 6 feet backwards causing the enemy to relocate, confuse the ranged DPS and piss off the melee DPS.

The tank should feel more like the Lance from Monster Hunter, not the Insect Glaive.

    Dodge is not Tank exclusive...

    Hop...like on one leg?

If you don't like getting out of the way of damage 'dodging'

    try using blocking...

on top of that you can add in the final perk of Stamina tree (50% bigger roll) and jump in the end of the roll to increase it like two times. It is very nice for pulling bigger packs of mobs, but it feels really off (our Charge ability should do that work, not dodge roll)

@Uncommon Sense by hop I mean like this video from monster hunter wilds - Look for him to do a 'hop' to reposition himself. See 1:15s for examples of the side hop and back hop https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-bZ56QH-Lw

@ELWOW yea it just feels - wrong.. it doesn't feel very tank like.

that small shuffle wont do anything in group PVP.

    Dodge rolling is fine.

If you don't like it as a Tank don't use it and put you points into blocking.

In the same logical argument, it does nothing for pve other than disturb the flow of combat and confuse your party. With the same logic, for PvP "try using blocking..."

What you said can be directly used for both sides of the argument.

I am commenting on the feeling of a tank. I am bringing forth dialogue about how dodging 10ft across the battlefield does not feel very tank like. You wouldn't ever see a knight in heavy armor flopping onto the ground and rolling 10 ft. The knight in heavy armor would hop or backstep and use the shield to mitigate damage.

If you think that's immersion breaking you'd be happy to know I've tried hard to get the Dunir Flip jump removed...

I'd say rolling in armor would be easier than hopping TBH....

Whats more immersion breaking: rolling in armor or holding a 12ft lance that looks to weigh about 4 tons?

Rolling in armor. The stupidly big weapons do not break immersion because it is expected from MH games

the roll is fine, does not need to change.

Tanks can can also wear light armor as well...
