Lv 19 almost 20 miner....Thoughts on metal nodes

I am almost levl 20 in mining. In that entire time I have maybe seen 10 copper nodes. Also I have never seen more than 2 copper nodes near each other and that was last night, shocked the shit out of me. I have seen from 5-10 T1/2 stone nodes near each other all the time. I see 10-20 flower or tree nodes clusters all the time. You have GOT to fix copper and zinc nodes. So out of 4 weekends spending 10+ hours each weekend going all over the map to find copper and zinc I was able to hit lv2 in armorsmith....I can not make a few lv 1 armor items for my lv 20 tank.... I basicly handed them out to newbies at starting zone.

I also found out the nodes will randomly despawn and respawn into another type which I find odd. I was mining at basalt node and in the middle of mining it converted into an Iron mine and canceled my harvest because I am unable to do T3 yet.

agreed, hoping the gathering/crafting gets a bit of a balance run through before player shops go online. - That said when the price of copper/zinc frags are through the MOON in player shops it'll be a giant red flag for the developers that somethings' an issue
PvP focused: TERA / Wildstar / Aion
PvE focused: WoW / FFXIV / Lineage II
Sandbox: Ultima Online / Darkfall / Mortal Online
Big Influence: SNES Fighting games / Starcraft / Diablo II / Smite

Weird, I've never seen the despawn/respawn bug. I assume you've reported it. I had once where I mined an entire hillside but got no materials.. I got the XP. But no drops. That was a frustrating two copper nodes.

Metal isn't actually very hard to find. Rotate your gathering through one or two areas with lots of mining nodes. Gather everything you come across, and return when it respawns.
This allows stone nodes to have a chance at being rolled into metal ones.
I mainly gather, it's what I enjoy. And the areas I've staked out have seen a marked increase in metal spawns since I routinely clear them.
For Smith's.. you should work with a gatherer. Not be a gatherer. Unless you're okay with the much lower efficiency at progressing your smithing.

If you've only seen ten nodes... Either you're just actually extremely unlucky. Not camping an area and just relying on randomly stumbling across something nobody else has. Or have chosen to ignore undesirable materials, thus not allowing them to be rerolled.

And even though it is somewhat sort of rare... That's actually a good thing. Rarity can be frustrating, but for a game that's trying to create an interlocking player driven economy.. it's very important. It means people NEED to work together if they want to progress quickly. Going solo is possible.. but it will be slow.
The smart crafter will hire someone like me to grind materials for them allowing them to focus their time and effort on their craft.

I call BS.... no way crafters in this world would have used copper as a starting point with how rare it is. T1 is always the most common type for any skill because it is the most common why you always start out with it... At this rate everyone in this world would use iron as the common and copper as the uber rare combine...

I have also tried short loops... mining nodes seam to have a 2 hour respawn so short loops do not work. I have tried a few medium ones with a little luck on respawn. Then the long loops on the outer edges of the map just to see what was out there and little luck. I will say steven has clustered most nodes in the center of the map for pvp agro chances...The outer edges of the map are mostly only trees and plants with little to nothing else. Also the father out nodes are bugged alot grant no mats on harvest.

Yes I bug report the crap out of node information... There has to be a dev like Sycloness... stop I get it the node will not grant a harvest do you have to bug report every one with a SS... yes, Yes I do... Fix it

im pretty sure every node gets a rare resource and riverand happens to be metal, i suspect dessert will be wood and tropic stone when they get expanded in phase 2 however it does realy suck when the only biome we have atm is riverlands :P
But hopefully in phase 2 ore will be much easier to farm in the other biomes
