Let me preface this by stating that I am well aware that this is all placeholder.
With that being said, some things I hope to see in the future:
There is a strong need for a "Butcher"(which may be in artisan skills)
Butcher would be able to salvage all materials for both cooking & armorsmithing/leatherworking
There needs to be a "hay" & "Chicken Feed" recipe for quality of feed to raise the quality of the livestock
There needs to be a "Pen" to put livestock in that has "feed" times.
"Feed" Quality along with livestock "Quality" Will provide "Random Quality" & "Random Amounts" of droppings, Milk, & Eggs of said quality Livestock & Feed. I.E. Rare livestock w/Uncommon Feed can only provide Uncommon/Common droppings, etc. Legendary Feed & Legendary Livestock can provide up to Legendary items.
You could go a step further and say, "livestock Quality" controls the "random" quality of items, and "Feed Quality" controlls the "random" amount of items.
I don't think that there is a problem with going out to farm droppings or getting them from fellow players either, I don't think that this system should technically be able to replace that, but it should be able to help supplement it.
Thank you for coming to my wishful thoughts.

I like your ideas of farming droppings though! Connecting feed quality with droppings quality is smart
