Gathering Tools Issue

I spent most my time last weekend accidentally become the metalworking kingpin of my server.

I was helping a wonderful customer get better tools, to bring me more of that sweet ore. In the process I was going to make myself a better tool and pass down the one I have. The game currently doesn’t allow for this. It feels odd that I can’t trade gathering tools with other players. I get why, having an inventory full of a tool to never have to repair. I think the better fix would be to have safe zone be the only place tools and artisan gear can be swapped. Allowing for hand me down trades or trade-in upgrades. It also feels wrong to just swap clothes out in the wilderness but it’s whatever. Some kind of cooldown before the affect applies could work.

It also feels odd to have a random npc make our tools. It should be a crafted item by a weapon smith or a Carpenter for the bow and fishing pole. Make the recipes purchase able from the corresponding vendors of tool’s artisanship. So if the upgraded corresponding building is not up you can get the recipe.

Tools should also use amount increase, and rarity increase over quantity and quality. As someone with dyslexia all I see it qua 😵‍💫 it will make the item more readable as I have had many discussions with people and both of us getting lost.

Would like to hear other thoughts and theories on tools.

with the time they change how the tools work. In the pre-alpha you have tools like weapon so you have the tools. At the first wave they change the tools like a upgrade of the tools they give you at the start with the first quest. Other reason the tools is now see like a weapon or other that you have your workbench but you can craft the more high tools only if you have the more high lvl on that profession.
So if you are metalworker you will sell the material but not the final tools, because to make a apprendi pikeaxe you must be apprendice in mining, you can be a metalworker that like forge metal but not mining, so you can have mining lvl 1.
So prepare wonderfull metal and sell to gather's man (next wave you can have your personal shop)

This is how it currently works. You go to the specific workbench for your artisan skill, craft the tool yourself and, if you are at apprentice or higher, then you can buy recipes for different variants of the tool with alternate stat bonuses.

You should explore some more of the nodes, and hopefully your server will fill out more buildings.
