Idea - Underwater Combat/skills

To preface, I am a mage main. I know this archetype the most. I would be happy to hear people's ideas for other archetypes. This being said...
I had an idea for abilities to switch to an aquatic mode when the player character is swimming. This might cause the player's abilities to change how they function as well as how they appear.
Arcane volley- I don't think this one needs to change honestly, but if I had to suggest one I would say that perhaps it curves downward to strike a submerged target from below, forcing them upwards.
Firebolt/Fireball-> Scalding beam- I was thinking this ability could be themed as super heated water that causes bubbles to collect on a submerged mob, making their swim speed temporarily slower, but causing them to rise towards the surface more.
Magma Field-> Scalding bubble- not to different from Scalding beam, but a more constant AoE that does better to force a target to the surface.
Ice Bolt-> cold Spike- conjure a icicle to just upwards.
A lot of the themes I am pushing for is to force a mob towards the surface so it becomes more vulnerable to attacks from ships.
