summoner suggestion

hello,
its been over a year i follow AOC and so far i have been impressed with the game despite the fact i was a no beliver :D with all that said i have a suggestion for summoner:
I want to see summoner have a unique skill to summon other players to it's location but here's some suggestions to make it balance without allowing the skill to be abused: 1. Only guild members or party members can be teleported and only one player can be summoned and skill should have a +10/20 minutes CD this way you can't summon a hole army to ur location 2. Only after lvl 10+ can get this skill and this skill can be used if you have had more than 1h of play time on that character daily (also need afk kick in game so you can't play on ur main and have this run in background to get 1h play time) or not be able to login 2 character at same time in same sever or whatever, my point is to make it so thats not worth making an alt account just to teleport people around or any other creative ways that your devs can think of 3. Summoned player can not have any unique raw materials in their inventory this will prevent transferring unique materials from one biom to another (or nodes to nodes) this would be very exciting and im sure if this exists in game over time and how it will be used or abused if ppl find a way around it then it can be balanced out.

    The Cooldown for every single Person being at least 20 Minutes or so would take care of it not being to ridiculously powerful, i admit.

    But honestly People could make the Cooldown One or Two "HOURS" and some People would still call it overpowered in a way. :mrgreen:

  • Aboslutly terrible idea. Their is no amount of balancing or tweeking that can make it good, some ideas are just born rotten and this is one of them.

    tell us how it can be abused with those conditions mentioned in my post, this is just to get that one party member back who died accidently from a mob so he doest have to run back for 30 min and we all sit afk if u still not happy hey add no pvp zone teleportation as well :D

    You misunderstand, it is not about 'abuse', or balance. Your idea is just inherently BAD, putting vital logistical function under a Class is just bad. It is the equivilent of saying that "because Pirates are a type of Rogue, only Rogues should be able to operate a BOAT in game" the logic of if a Pirate is actually a type of Rogue or how 'unbalanced' a Rogue would be is immaterial. This is just BAD in principle to put such functions under a character class selection.

    In one way, Yes.

    We all imagine an EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPIC Army of Hundreds of Players moving in the biggest Case of Node-War or (Verra)World-War, right ?

    Would kinda suck if that doesn't come to pass, only because lets say like 250 People from 500 have another 250 somewhere who are "ALL" Summoners and "whoops" the whole Army never moved as one. :D


    250 Summoners just moved somewhere and teleported the other 250 Members somewhere, as Summons. This would ruin not just the Balance in Class Numbers in a 500 Node-Siege or Castle-Siege Army - but it would also take that epic Feeling away of marching with all of your Allies in great Numbers. ;)

    Technically this can never be in any way or form be overpowered - > as long as all Sides,

    all Nodes,
    all Guilds,

    have about the same Amounts of Summoners as their Players. But it would still be pretty crass if the Summoner-Class could just "move" entire Parts of Armies across the whole World of Verra like no big deal. ;)



    It would be a great Nerve-Saviour to use this in small Groups -> but could easily be a horrible pain in the Ass when whole Armies are involved. :sweat_smile:

    i mean dont allow it to be used when u are flagged or in war or seige fights which forces u to go to pvp same as pvp zones :D

    Riiiight. Idea.

    The Teleport would be inactive for whatever magical Reason when You are in a Node which is at War with another Node. :D


    But i realise how much of a cluttered mess this Topic has become already from all the what's and if's. ;)


    Maybe one could limit this Summoning-Teleport to that it only works in the same Biome where one has their own Home Node. >:)

    This way it would still be somewhat powerful. But You couldn't trick and fiddle your Way around the whole World of Verra :mrgreen: and your Allies couldn't as well. >:)

    One of the previous dev streams Steven mentioned classes will have a unique perk they bring to the party

    For example, rogue picking locks to get shortcuts or aoe cloaking, mage food or mana buff, fighter shouts, ranger distraction arrow etc

    So, a summoner portal for 1 person every 30 mins doesn’t sound too bad and can continue that method of having a unique perk that they bring to the table

    I feel WoW’s “Ritual of Summoning” where it took 2 other party members plus the Summomer to forge a temporary Summon stone with limited uses to portal players to you. This could be tweaked down (I.e Cooldowns on the summons, limited number of (3) Player Summons then a big say 1 hour cooldown or 30 min CD) into this game easily and would give Summoner a niche perk like the way Rogues can lockpick doors/chests for extra rooms and treasures in dungeons for example.
