Bit of Cleric Feedback
Rym
Member, Alpha Two
I've been having a blast playing on my Cleric lately, got it to lvl 14 and now I'm farming my gathering and crafting artisanships to hopefully build heroic to epic grade equipment and weapons during this extra week of testing we've received.
In the old game I played I was a Bard for quite a while, the bard there was wildly different from the Bard in Ashes which I don't particularly like.
The cleric is closer however, and while I enjoy playing the class I have some pain points I'd like to offer feedback on.
1. Damage Options
- The cleric currently has a few damage options that work very well for solo play, and the damage is very decent, but in the future I'd like to see diverging paths where we can spec more into Death or Life aspects of the class, where Death focuses more on damage and Life focuses more on healing. The Cleric in the previous game I played was quite crazy and could sacrifice healing power for damage, and were extremely effective damage dealers as well, although changing skills did cost gold and you couldn't switch between builds on the fly in the field, only in capital cities, it was a very good design imo. I would like to see something similar in Ashes with the aspects of Life and Death that the Cleric deals with.
2: Healing Group Members
- Healing groups members has been quite weird to me, tanks are very squishy, and despite my healing power being incredible, group members would also at times simply up and die from a random oneshot mechanic they didn't dodge. My pain point here is that targeting the group members is rather difficult, the HUD UI is kinda rigid, it's not easy to see whether my target is switched properly or whether my healing really works on them. Furthermore, I can't see my own character in the party frame either. Mend is also glitchy and most of the time finds a very long route before healing my target. It overall feels like I can't target my group members quick enough to heal them. I would like to also be able to place the party frame in a horizontal manner rather than vertical. I would also like mouseover healing to be a thing. I'm not sure about playing the piano to quick select party members while healing them, I feel like such complex methods shouldn't be needed to heal someone.
3: Self Stats Display
- I find it painful that my character's stats are not displayed above or below my character during combat (HP, MP, DP) I would like an option where a simple HP, MP and resource bar is visible above or below the character so I don't have to glance over the screen to determine my current HP and MP levels.
I think that's it for the moment, can't think of anything extra from my playthrough.
Solo experience is currently a 8/10, group healing is at around 3/10 however. Doable, but weird.

Healing UI could definitely use some love and agreed that targetting has to be easier. There also needs to be a much clear indication that someone has a debuff to remove.
And self stats would definitely be welcomed. Sometimes I do not even realize I'm low on life until the red warning frames of death pop up (which is helpful but the option of seeing stats closer to the character frame is a good idea).
