Making Money

Thank you to Intrepid for your hard work and dedication (and vision) for what I believe will truly be an amazing game. I've not experienced many Alphas (but plenty of Betas) and I think the foundation is solid. I've been having a true mmorpg experience with the fellow players on the Lyneth server. Good times.

So, the beef of the message is, mobs need to drop money or saleable items (vendor trash). If you're going to have item durability which requires repair we need a way to recoup those costs WHILE just playing. Wiping/dying several times (or repeatedly) loses durability - these costs can add up if one is adventuring with a group ALL day and not getting much except tokens. I get that wolves and bears should not drop coins, but humanoids and goblins can. I'm going to make a cringeable comparison, but WoW had crunchy spider legs (which was used in cooking), bear claws, wolf fangs, shiny scales, and all types of other vendor trash that dropped from mobs. All of this was worthy of sale and helped make money. Selling glint is not really viable since it's used for taxes and cannot be purchased. I know some are going to reply with the usual "git gud" and I can do it the way it is, yadda, yadda. But most of us, I believe are cash poor and this is why.

On a side note, I'm still not certain how some players can have multiple mounts and BoB to sell at 60s a pop with the lack of coin and mob-dropped items of value. Personally, I took to selling common materials (basalt, granite, logs, etc.) to make money and have only been able to afford ONE callus cat mount. Granted, I don't play as much as some people as I work and have a family, but I'd be curious to hear how others are making coin. Good hunting!!

Glint into caravan trade good, run caravans turns those trade goods into gold. I was pretty broke until I started running caravans now I'm flush with gold. There are videos on Youtube for Caravans if you need.

Mobs already drop saleable items (glint). You can either sell it at a vendor or turn it into trade goods for a caravan.

Part of the reason you're not making money is because certain other people have found ways to make too much money. So we end up with a big gap between the haves and have-nots due to economic velocity.

It's just not implemented yet, but know that by 'being broke' and scraping to find more cash, you're helping because you're more likely to run into bugs, being constantly pushed outside of any niche/comfort zone.

Trust that it'll come, in time.

tl;dr you're poor because other people are rich, and that second part may change as the economy comes online.

The way you make money in Ashes of Creation is not and will never be by farming mobs.

You need to do trade runs with caravans, a quick run can net you 5-7 gold in profit, with 1 gold investment. Longer runs apparently can give 30+ gold.

There will never be a better or faster way to make gold, I think the current best mob farm methods net you 3-4 gold an hour, nearly 10 times less than the best gold per hour you can make with caravan trading.
