Stealing from friends? 😀

The title is a marketing title to have people and maybe devs read it.
I already posted it in game being a bug.

What happened….
In game we had with some RL friend who I play with for about 20 years some fun with some mobs.
A bit out of our range….but hey…the fun matters.
After a hard long fight we got the mobs down…but in last stroke one elite killed our healer.
Like good friends…we laughed at him.

We found out he was repopped on the total other side of the map and would take bait to return.
We thought by the time he got back the mobs would be there again…but then we had no healer.
So he asked….please get my stuff.
So I did.
The warning…your stealing popped up…I didn’t mind that because I was going to returned it to him…but it is odd that the game doesn’t see that we are group members.
He returned and I wanted to trade the stuff back….
Nope…
The game didn’t let me…..I was a thief. And thieves can’t hand stolen goods back to the owner.
This was annoying..
You help a player out…and for that the game tells you that you are a thief.
More fun it was that I couldn’t return the stuff to the owner…but the game lets me sell it for profit.????

Having stuff lost because you get killed in a Pve fight is silly….i thought after the 90s this had left the mmo world.
In PvP it’s also silly…but if you beat me long enough I might see the point.

But that we can’t tell the system that sertain people have a permit to take out stuff from a corpse after we die and are in our party or guild is silly..

Last annoying thing…..
The roaming lvls 20+ who ride round looting corpses before the owner returns.
Some even camp near events and wait for the players to die.

It's frustrating but there is reasons. People have been doing negative behaviour and having a friend kill them and loot their items and give them back. I wonder what you went through was not part of the intended outcome. I have not been reading the patch notes this week.

Only place you will not lose items and exp in death is sanctioned PvP. Any other death will have negitve effects. It's a mild sting and games like Everquest were heavier in that penalty. You could even lose levels. I personally like it. Stops teams from ganging your head with a bad team. Comes a point you need to walk away and lick wonds.

As for people higher level camping deaths. That's because it's Alpha. Games like this. Your Rep will catch up to you. When the majority of people are top level. They will think twice about looting people's bodies in such a way.

Since this whole thing was a knee-jerk reaction as opposed to a well thought out considered system, we should expect issues like this.

The whole thing with looting corpses is just stupid right now. It will change.

The " Can't give Stuff back " -Side is to counter People who would try to fight Corruption Punishment this way. But You should likely be able to give Stuff back to an Owner when no One of you Guys was corrupted before.

But the Question is,
how can the Game identify if you don't do it to more or less avoid and lend a helping Hand in fighting the Consequences of ganking and Corruption ?

Will You be able to give back Stuff when none of you guys was corrupted since you formed the Party ? But something tells me even then People could try to maneuver around the Consequences.

They always find a way.

I'm unsure how saying the system is a knee-jerk reaction, not well thought out, is stupid and will change would make you think I'm not agreeing with the OP in terms of the system not being good.

My main point though is that it will change - it has to change. The game is essentially broken with it how it is right now.

Since it has to change, I see no point in getting too involved in saying it needs to change. I also see no real need to come up with suggestions for how it should change - better off letting Intrepid make the changes they are going to make, and then give feedback on that.
