Corruption is WAY too punishing

I get it, we need corruption to be meaningfully penalizing to properly discourage griefing. I totally support that. But in its current state, it just goes too far.

I was grinding mobs, died, and upon getting back to my body I see someone in the process of looting me. I dropped a TON of glint and epic zinc, so it was very likely that they would have taken the loot. I decided to kill them before they had the chance, rather than wait to see if they actually did it. I have been playing since Oct 25 and this is my first pk. Anyway, I then go about my business, but because I'm corrupt, the next passerby decides to attack me. I wanted to avoid additional corruption, so I ran. But after a couple of minutes it was ridiculous so I fought back and killed them. And this is my first problem with corruption. I should be able to defend myself without getting additional corruption. I mean, I'm already corrupt, that should be enough, let me defend myself.

So now with 2 PKs, I must have had a fair amount of corruption. I figured I would grind mobs to get rid of it. After more than an hour of grinding same level mobs, scores upon scores of mobs, I was still corrupt. During that time I accumulated hundreds of glint and tons of loot. I couldn't go offload it because I am KoS and the guards would hunt me as well. Eventually someone 10 levels above me came by and put me out of my misery, which finally got rid of my corruption at the cost of the majority of my loot & 3 pieces of gear!

After all of that, I still have no idea how many mobs I would have needed to kill to get rid of my corruption. I probably killed 100-200 and was still corrupt. That's WAY too much. And then to lose gear as well, plus not be able to defend myself or go to town. WTF.

I mean, you can judge my reason for killing that first player. But most can agree that there are circumstances when you need to kill another player. Not griefing, just gameplay. It's part of what makes an mmo fun and feel dangerous. In its current state, why even allow owpvp? I really can't imagine ever killing another player again for any reason. Is that really what we want it to be? Or maybe there needs to be an allowance, maybe a pk score or something, whereby if you have only killed one player in 100 hours of gameplay you don't suffer such extreme penalties?

Surely there is a better way to prevent griefing while allowing some player agency in killing another player. As it is now, it's effectively banned. IS has decided they don't want to ban PK, yet that's basically what they've done.

Anyone attacking a player whether combatant or corrupted should be flagged automatically and thus not cause corruption.
