[PETITION] Why There's No Copper And Why It Should Change: 24 Hour Node Spawn

I made a poll on reddit and in it, I saw this comment: https://www.reddit.com/r/AshesofCreation/comments/1h1l1ds/comment/lzcvh1n/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

It speculates that the nodes in AoC respawn on a 24 hour cycle, which falls in line with other comments I've seen in my posts and others. If you mine first thing in the morning/night, it's all there for the taking, and then no one else sees any for the rest of the day. u/Steven_AoC said during the live stream that the copper is out there and being mined, but it's not getting to the people, which is what the shops are for, but this does not solve the negative player sentiment around the lack of copper.

A universal 24 hour node spawn allows for the control of resources in the game and reinforces scarcity as a game mechanic, but it also makes the game experience objectively worse for players who aren't able to play at the right time to take advantage of the nodes. As a casual player myself, I have been trying to get into mining. I spent 3 hours after I got off work hoping to find some copper and test some things in game. I found nothing. My time, that I have in limited supply, was spent on an effort that was doomed from the start without my knowledge. That really sucks.

Even if it's not one respawn per 24 hours, if the spawn rate is too long, then we still get the same feast and famine scenario that we have now. If you're lucky, you get everything, if not, then good luck.

Every player should have the opportunity to take part in all aspects of gameplay, including gathering. If I can only play 2 hours a day, I still want the chance to take part in the game's economy with the same chances as any other player. Yes, player shops will aleviate some of the tension around a lack of resources, but the current system gives a subset of players a monopoly of a resource that is mandatory for several core aspects of the game, and many have no incentive to share it. Why sell your ore at this stage of the game when every player can spec into every aspect of an apprentice crafting line and handle all production aspects themselves? This cuts vast swaths of players from taking part in key aspects of gameplay.

To be fair, there's no confirmation yet on this being the current state of the game, but all I've heard points to it as true, and I think it makes the game worse experience rather than better. Please change this, I want to play the game too.

Go to an area which is supposed to be abounded in metals. Count the trees, count the ore nodes. You will get your answer about that supposed metal abundance. Not sure how much this is affected by the node progression, but if it is, that's a clear problem for late comer wannabe crafters.

At any moment if I decided to gather some trees, I would be swimming in wood in a matter of minutes. I managed to find maybe 15 copper during my how many hours of gameplay now?

The issue is real and I'd like it adressed better before Dec 20th. Posts I've seen indicate that copper hunting is either feast or famine. You are lucky enough to be around right after everythin respawns, or it's a copper desert for the entire time you're mining. Rare spawns should be staggered in some way so that any poin in the day, new nodes are still showing up to promote exploration and reward players who keep looking even if they aren't able to play during the prime window.

    yeah, I went yesterday evening:
0 Nodes in 4 locations total (4 large hillsides)

    This morning:
idk how many nodes - but ~150 copper in the same locations.

This would suggest that steven was right: There is a lot of copper being mined.
But I agree, that this even with stalls - sucks - especially if the respawn happens during the night where very few ppl can play.

Ores are harder to find than stuff like wood due to visibility and scarcity. Feast or famine would indicate too long respawn timer on resource nodes.

I have had copper and ruby spawn at random times near me several times.

Steven talked about this Wednesday on the stream. he said the data shows there is a lot of copper being spawned and picked up. At least according to their metrics and tools.
Most people never listen. They are just waiting on you to quit making noise so they can.

Riverlands is not a fine metal-centric area.

I haven’t found any copper since starting. I have been trying to keep my eyes open for it but can’t seem to find any anywhere.

Honestly the solution is in pylons if they change the way they work.
Make some of the nodes hidden to the naked eye so they can't be quickly farmed by the fast and speedy. Make pylons reveal hidden nodes in an area and allow resources to be found by the careful and diligent.

As it is now pylons are kind of useless because any nodes they tell you about you could easily see just by running around.

I'd wager to say context and perspective might be off for "a lot" of copper being mined.

A lot of copper might be 1000? But split over 24 hrs between many different players is it nothing, and that wouldn't even come close to leveling 1 players weaponsmithing.

I would love to see the data between trees harvested and copper mined to see if "a lot" is accurate.

Weeping Willow Tree rarity is even worse than copper, both have so few spawns its barely enough for a single crafter and by far not enough for a whole guild or even the whole server.
Nobody cares what ressources are native to the riverlands, we are here to test the game and it sucks to have this few ressources.
They could easily add temporary spawns that they can later remove once more regions are added to the game.

There is definitely enough for the whole server long term (maybe not in the 'instant gratification' way people are expecting).
It's mostly a matter of mobility. There's no easy way to trade materials other than through word of mouth and in-person trades.
