Griefing

FinnleyFinnley Member, Alpha Two
Griefing has become a rampant issue as Phase one comes to an end, clearly undermining the purpose of this early testing phase.
Players that go out of their way to grief other testers should face consequences.
Players that knowingly use exploits for their personal advantage instead of reporting them should face consequences.
Yes Steven has been swinging his Hammer but in my opinion this was more of a publicity stunt as all non "streamer servers" stay completely unmoderated with no way to report blatent exploiting or obvious griefing.
I understand this is just an alpha of a game that does not exist but i suggest to add some way to report players that are just trying to disrupt the testing experience, ensuring that the focus remains on improving the game.

There may be an option in the /bug report feature.

There is not, i have used it to report people that where literally botting weeks ago but it seems my report was just lost in the flood of bug reports because there is no dedicated section for player reports.

Unfortunately, I agree with you. I'd hoped that the last change would fix some of this, but shortly after I hit 6 in the lumber mills area, I got pounded by a bunch of high-level corrupted characters roaming around the area killing everyone that wasn't under protection anymore. Then I went back and got hit again to where I decided to log into another character that wasn't around that area.

It certainly wasn't because I was in an area where I was taking resources or other things from them... they just wanted to grief in my opinion.

I think the bounty system will help to at least partially curtail this type of activity once it is fully fleshed-out.

    But in the meantime.. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

well if its a bunch of corrupted players going around killing people then its technically not griefing, they are suffering the consequences eventually, yea it sucks but you are going to see that come release as well and probably alot more until people realise that the corruption stacks more and more each time until their characters are no good for pvp.

its really only griefing if you are spawn camping and killing the same person over and over like what happened with the bald one. while i dont do it, nothing is stopping me from going around murdering anyone i want, if i choose to do so thats where the corruption comes in, as pham said bounty hunting will help this. Calling it out in global saying theres corrupted people with free loot is usually the best way to get people to stop killing greens as then they run off afraid of losing their shit

Well, I hope your right that this will help curtail some of this. At this point, all I can see is level 50's outfitting in all white/cheap gear, then running around killing low level players. Eventually they will get killed and lose their white gear, say "so what" and outfit in white gear again, and do it all over again.

There were griefers reported some even in this Forum.
So far nothing happened (as far as I can determine, I didn't play the last 2 weeks bc of personal stuff)

If they really only want one server for P2 EU - I think we will see a massive Exodus as it only needed 2-3 griefers to ruin the experience for everyone on the server trying to go somewhere with randoms (with a pure guild group you don't advertise, so you can usually sneak past the spots they can easily train mobs on you (like carphin entry+1st floor)).
They were bold enough to boast about it in chat and I have still seen them weeks later (and I know they got reported in the forum AND via the Bug feature).

PLEASE Intrepid: Implement a reporting category and start banning people who abuse mechanics (when it is clear that it didn't happen by accident).
Training mobs while being unflagged is clearly abuse of the corruption system isn't it?

No one expects that you get everyone or fix the mob-training issue (its ridiculous how easy it is right now). But at least set a signal and ban whomever you can fairly.
I don't think anyone tried duping items after you swung?

Fixing the issue alone won't be enough, since ppl will always find new ways of exploiting the system to grief people "Schadenfreude" sadly is too big of a motivator for some...

My husband and I were levelling killing spiders when we saw a large group of higher level players pull mobs towards us and then dropped all of their AOE. We couldn't heal through it. We died. We watched while they each took turns looting our remains. Our run back took three mins, but even if we had got back we had no way to fight them. This happened twice. We logged off and came back an hour later, and the same thing happened. This is not a good experience. Dropping loot when you die in PvE is bad enough, but griefing is the pits and we won't be playing if this remains. Maybe losing two players doesn't seem like much, but I suspect there will be a large player base looking for a great MMO who won't stay if griefing is rampant.

Actually they will run around naked for a bit since they can't access storage or equip/unequip items while corrupted and it will take a few deaths to work off corruption. They won't even be able to equip a weapon, but I guess this still works for mages who don't need weapons.
