Pvp griefers and other hooligans.

I can't wait for this game to come out! Last night, I had a dream about a unique punishment for PvP griefers. If caught red-handed, either by other players or game masters, the griefer would be imprisoned in a public stockade in the nearest town.
Players could then interact with the imprisoned griefer by throwing rotten fruit or stones. The griefer would have to log in and spend in-game time to serve their sentence. For instance, a first-time offense might result in a one-week sentence, equating to 168 hours of in-game time in the stockade. This duration could be adjusted based on the severity of the offense.
This system would benefit Intrepid by generating revenue from player interactions and providing griefers with multiple chances for redemption. Instead of outright bans, players would be incentivized to spend time in-game, even if it's in a less-than-ideal situation.
Crazy I know. What does everyone think?

I think the game handles griefing with the corruption mechanic. People pulling mobs and combat logging will likely be fixed by not making a character dissapear instantly as they log out, the game is in an Alpha state.
please lock/delete this post i didnt know that Archage did that.
2. the pvp in this game is entirely unpunished as it is. i agree with cracking down on it alot more because right now you just group up and destroy everyone because its always 8v1.
I'm not convinced the corruption will be successfully balanced. I'm game to see what IS does but there has been some real problems. Training people. Forcing people to flag. Snaring or mezing people when pulling and letting the mobs kill them. This is still early days, what else will griefers come up with. I'm waiting to see the answers for these actions.
For each non-combatant you kill, you get a stack of corruption that lasts 24 game hours. Having a friend kill you or grinding won't remove the corruption. The only way to reduce it is to wait it out in game time.
If corrupted, any player in stealth (ranger / rogue / etc.) will still show up on the mini-map, and bounty hunters can still track you, but you could still be invisible or hard to see on screen.
So, this would in effect cause the corrupted player to deal with people hunting them for 24 hours game time at a minimum and doesn't matter how many times they are killed within that period, they stay corrupted until the time runs out.
To balance some of that, the most equipment a corrupted player should lose in this case is 1 item for each death since they could be killed multiple times before their time runs out.
The 24 hours idea could be changed to 16 or 8 depending on how it worked out.
I'm sure some would think this is too harsh, but I'd think this would curb but not completely stop attacking non-combatants.
I think you need an RP server....
You could probably reduce this by 75% and it would be pretty effective. Only change I would suggest is that corruption on this scale isn't incurred after a single non-combatant kill, maybe after 3. Otherwise you're basically arguing for an opt-in ow pvp flag.
