Constant Freezing or Crashes - Unplayable - I give up

I managed to finally log on after constant errors or 'failed to retrieve character list'.
But the game is unplayable. Keeps freezing or just straight crashing.
I tried for an hour or two, but it's unplayable, and I give up.
I'll try later or tomorrow.
