Character Building

Hello everyone, i haven't really checked the formus about it and i know it's only alpha.
I just hope we will get more ways to actually build our character. Something that WOW or DAoC did not do good was make your character feel unique. All mages were the same, maybe there were 2 types of priests, the race did barely matter beside a racial skill and some minor buffs.
Other games really gave you ways to specialize in choosing a race, which actually the stats could change your char. Or you really had to chose your skills you wanted to level. If you played Shadowbane you know.
The skilltrees are far from fnishied but they feel alot like WOW. Im not asking for a POE skilltree but i hope you get the posibility to actually get a diffrent feeling from other mages.
Maybe thats where the subclass thing comes in.
The weapon have the same problem for me. They don't seem to have an identity. its just like in WOW where you pick the most stats on your weapon. I would love to see more depth in the skilltree of weapons, unlocking actual skills, giving each weapon more of an identity and an actual choice not just the best stats on it. Make hammers stun, make daggers bleed etc.
I know there is some kind of direction already but i would love to see it even more acentuated.
Also the stamina trees i hope could be some improvement with actual choices. Maybe even some skills to unlock.
For me it was always one of the best things to hone your build that made your character feel unique. Actual choices where you had to pass up on certain skills to get others. More than just the "im a fire or frost mage" and thats about the choice i have.
Have fun out there and thanks for the amazing work Interpid

Hopefully when they add secondary archetypes later this phase we will get what you're looking for.
This is the thief/assassin/ assassin cross skills. You would change jobs and then transcend. But this is how the skill tree worked. You had to lvl certain skills to unlock others. But the class could go double dagger auto attack, a ranged build with a skill called soul destroyer, or a katar crit build, plus more.
