A better gathering experience

Gathering in the game is a solid start, but I’ve noticed some things that make it frustrating or a bit boring after a while. I wanted to share some feedback and ideas that might help make it feel more fun and rewarding.

Right now, one of the biggest problems is running into so many gatherables out in the wild that you just can’t interact with because they’re too high tier. It feels like the resources are placed kind of randomly, and you spend a lot of time finding stuff you can’t even use. This makes exploring less exciting, especially when you’re stuck farming the same few low-tier spots because everyone’s there.

The other thing is that gathering feels pretty repetitive. The only “surprise” is how much or how rare the resources you get are. It’s fine at first, but it gets stale when you’re doing the same thing over and over with nothing else happening.

Another issue is that gathering feels very solo-oriented right now. It would be awesome if there was a way to gather with guildmates or party members and get benefits for doing it together. For example, maybe when multiple people work on the same node, it gets gathered faster, or there’s a chance for extra loot. It could also make gathering feel like more of a team activity, which would be great for guilds and groups that want to work together.

To make things better overall, it would be awesome if resources spawned in more predictable spots. For example, certain ores could show up only in mountain areas, or specific types of trees could be tied to certain biomes. This would spread players out more, make gathering routes easier to plan, and encourage exploration instead of everyone clumping in the same areas.

Adding some surprises while gathering would make it more exciting too. For mining, maybe there’s a small chance to discover a hidden cave after finishing a node. Inside, you could find a big stash of resources to mine, kind of like how Wildstar handled it. For trees, maybe chopping one down could reveal an underground grove with rare trees or plants. Stuff like this would make gathering feel like an adventure instead of a chore.

Another cool idea could be having random creatures spawn while you gather. Like, you’re mining, and suddenly an ore worm pops out. If you beat it, you get some extra rare materials. It’d add a bit of risk and make the process more dynamic and rewarding.

Finally, maybe gathering could have some small, fun challenges. For example, mining a big vein could involve breaking it apart in a quick mini-game or something like that. Doing it faster could mean more or better resources. It’s just a little extra interaction that would make it more engaging.

Hope this feedback helps! Gathering has a lot of potential, and with a few tweaks, it could be a lot more fun and rewarding, especially if it becomes something you can enjoy solo and with friends. Can’t wait to see how it evolves!
